This volunteer served in his European home country’s military for 10 years and started working in the private sector upon completion of his military service. At the start of the full-scale invasion in February 2022, he got his affairs in order and came to Ukraine to volunteer. He was at the Yavoriv base when it was attacked by Russia in March 2022.

After fighting for several months, in May 2022 the vehicle he was in drove over a mine.  This resulted in the amputation of the left leg above the knee and eventually the amputation of his right leg too.  He had a long period of rehab in his home country, and acquired prosthetics and a specially adapted car.

But despite all this, he returned to continue serving in Ukraine in late 2023!  He now works in an administrative, recruiting capacity with the Ukrainian military.

His medical bills and prosthetic costs plus the lack of income during his rehab has severely drained his savings and his military pay is low.  He uses a wheelchair at night and cannot live in the free military barracks as they are not accessible.  Therefore, he must pay rent to live in a place suitable for his needs.  He also cannot easily use public transportation.  He has a specially adapted vehicle but needs a lot of money for gas and vehicle maintenance as he must make frequent trips from the training camps to Lviv and Kyiv for coordination.

Protect A Volunteer would like to find monthly donors for him to supplement his salary and allow him to use his military skills in continued service.  If you would like to sponsor him, please indicate this on our [sign up form](https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSd22e1uJD_SRxg-x5FC3dxDWwhDGsoJjhHosYj-fpK0BIysTQ/viewform).

  2. He sounds like an incredible guy. I hope he gets support. The work he’s doing is just as valuable as it was pre-injury. I hope he’s recovering well. I wish I had the income to support multiple volunteers.

  3. Is it possible for someone to give a one-time donation for this warrior, outside of being in donor group?

  4. “Protect the Volunteer” says:

“If you wish to sponsor a specific volunteer, please let us know your preference.  We will do our best to match you with that person but matching is ultimately subject to priorities and current requests.”

How can I support this particular brave man?
