I thought everyone at this stage understood why Ireland scores so highly in gdp comparisons
Where hospital beds?
Where affordable housing?
Where metro?
Where schools with access?
Where quality roads?
Where better train network?
Where affordable food?
Where budget for mental health?
Where is the fcuking money?
🙄
Who’s turn is it?
Can someone ELI5 why this isn’t as good as it sounds?
Leprechaun economics
Certain factors inflate our number greatly. The person on the street does not feel the benefits from our high GDP but they certainly feel the associated higher cost of living.
Real denominator, fantasy numerator.
Transfer pricing
I think IRE has the 4th highest based on the map saying: Not on Map: Lichtenstein and Monace (both higher) plus there is Luxembourg, which also has higher GDP per cap. than IRE.
Although all thi aside. Yeah it’s high.
I know plenty of Polish and Slovakian people who lived here for years and have gone home, they definately wouldn’t have if they were 5x better off here. Just GDP really doesn’t equal standard of living or satisfaction.
