  1. Bad headline that begs you to answer it with no, but it’s yes

“Overall, every electric car will produce fewer emissions than its petrol equivalent, no matter where they are charged.”

  2. Electric cars don’t give people asthma. What is the electric car equivalent of an oil spil?

  3. but there are considerations not mentioned by this article:

    – EVs are heavier than equivalent ICEs,
    – EVs do not last as long as ICEs,
    – electric grid & charging equipment also “lose heat” (somebody pulled these claims about power plant vs engine efficiency out of their gaping ass),
    – power infrastructure does not exist for mass adoption of EVs (not only are we building batteries and cars, also magnitudes more generation storage & transmission. this cannot be overstated: eventually when everyone is transitioned off their gas guzzler we will all pay vastly more for electricity, not so much right now because EVs are still peanuts)

there are many other issues commonly brought up by coal roller types, nevertheless completely valid, such as mines and water and child/prison labor …

at the end of the day EVs aren’t really separate from fossil fuels at all, instead all cars are wholly reliant on unsustainable growth of fossil fuel extraction and certainly, all things considered, mass adoption of EVs *will in fact be worse* than the already suicidal love affair we have with our gas cars

    aww did i hurt r/environment ‘s feelings?

  4. All personal cars need to be gotten rid of, including electric, except for maybe rural areas if there’s really no alternative.
