Invading Taiwan is probably not the hardest part. They would have to defeat the US Navy and Air Force in the area first. If they can do that they can blockade Taiwan and wait.

China’s military has the least combat experience of all the major powers, other than rounding up dissidents into concentration camps. That being said, it will eventually be able to overwhelm Taiwanese defenses just by throwing its people forward as cannon fodder, not unlike what’s happening in Ukraine. It all comes down to US appetite to really help defend Taiwan.
We need to make sure Taiwan is properly armed to retaliate with a destroying strike on the Three Gorges Dam if China genuinely threatens. If that means nukes, then nukes. If that means conventional missiles, then that. But China needs to be sent back to the stone age if they threaten Taiwan’s sovereignty in any real way, and Three Gorges is the way to do it.
I think someone higher up in Taiwan said if China tried to pull this off that the 3 gorges dam is fair play. That is crazy to think about the damage that would cause.
