It’s not like there are legitimate post box sales – as soon as this comes up for sale, the police should be all over it for either theft or handling stolen property.
I particularly dislike this kind of thief because you’re not just stealing some value, you’re stealing an irreplaceable part of somewhere’s history and culture, and damaging a public service.
They are collectors items over here in the States. Sorry guys, I’ve been paying people to tear them down and ship them over here, then selling them at 10X cost to Anglophilic old ladies.
Disgraceful. They should all be replaced like-for-like and not with some cheap modern imitation.
Question: Why are old post boxes suddenly going missing?
Answer: Because they’re being stolen.
BBC News everyone
Anything of value not bolted down, will be stolen and sold off for personal profit.
To be fair, the thieves are just following the traditional Tory gameplan.
On the street i grew up on as a kid someone has ( from what I can see) two post boxes and a couple of red phone boxes up. Not stored but placed as features. It’s bizarre. It’s not like it’s some charming location it’s ex council terraces.
Worth a lot of money in scrap metal.
Or resold to pretentious middle class people who put them on the front of their house because fuck parcel delivery people.
