I really hate people with a bad faith application of the law

I think I found the source of the problem. If their ducks were in a row they wouldn’t have let it slide. It’s not the objectors fault that they didn’t exercise their right to defend the case. It looks like the Council fucked around and found out.
I mean he is 100% a NIMBY but you have to respect this guy’s game, you would think the state would be able to do things by the book rather than lose to an individual.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: if the state agencies and private companies just followed the laws, sweetnam wouldn’t be successful.
In fairness (and here come the downvotes) the council just decided to carry on illegally. If someone did that for a big fancy house there would be war. They conceded the case.
People getting mad at the wrong person here. If people stopped breaking planning laws or ignoring environmental regulations. Then they wouldn’t lose so many bloody cases on same.
Yes Sweetman is a ‘serial objector’ at this rag attempts to downplay what’s going on. It neglects to mention the reason this ‘serial objector’ keeps winning is because ppl incl the government keep taking the piss with their own planning laws.
It’s not even like those regulations are that bad to comply with. They just require appropriate mitigation.

If you do not live in the area you should have no right to object to planning in that area. This national system for appeals is nonsense. I live in Galway, I should have no right to appeal a development in Donegal or Carlow and hold projects up for months.
This lad has between 10 and 20 objections going at one time. On Monday he is appealing 96 houses in Cork on Tuesday he is appealing a harbour in Connemara on Wednesday he moves on to a wind farm in Wicklow.
Look, you build something without planning then more fool you.
Planning laws need to change in the country, 1 person or a couple of people can be holding up everything! Reminds me of the abandoned plans from Apple to build in Athenry which would have benefited the town millions!

I’m not sure why such a project isn’t covered under critical infrastructure. Once again, another reminder why we have no infrastructure in this country and much of our ports were left by the fucking Victorians.
Every fucking time this shit happens there are comments from TDs about how this is terrible or something needs done.

Ah Sweetman. The same prick who blocked plans to drain a freshwater turlough into a freshwater lake to protect the wildlife habitat of the turlough…..which has now been destroyed due to the turlough overfilling and not draining, killing all plant life and dissuading any wildlife from returning, while also flooding the farms and houses surrounding said turlough.
