  1. I don’t think Rishi cares anymore. He knows he’s on his way out, likely can’t wait to leave, and he’s letting the rabble throw whatever crap they want AT the walls. He’s done and already dreaming of cali.

Going by betting sites it doesn’t look promising he’ll keep his seat as an MP either.

  2. Also been sprung on employers. Cant imagine the NHS, police, fire service etc are going to want thousands of 18yrs old once a month that really can do fuck all

  3. Is that Brexit hard man Steve Baker? He can get to fuck too.

  4. You’d think an ardent Brexiteer like Baker would be all for Dads Army II.

  5. I’m getting the sense that the Plan may not be fully working.

  6. I told all the 17 – 18 year olds where I work that I’m voting tory so they have to join the army next year. They are falling for it and completely freaking out.

  7. Steve baker knows he’s toast. He really doesn’t care. He has just lost six months pay due to sunak and isn’t competent enough to get one of those fake jobs. He’s not even campaigning but going on holiday. Now it’s time to ensure you aren’t portillo by distancing yourself early or quitting

  8. Things are bad when ‘hard man of Brexit’ Steve Baker is saying you’re crazy.

  9. As much as I despite Nadine Dorris she’s got a great point about the American school year starting in August.

I’ll give credit to Sunak if he’s going down he’s doing everything in his power to take the rest down with him.

  10. Tory Blue Rinse Brigadiers getting all giddy about punishing the youths. Sunak’s cannon fodder

  11. Confirmed a “stipend” as a wage for the years service. Get fucked with that.

  12. Baker knows the plan is to come out with policies people assume come from his wing of the party, so when they lose they’ll get the blame.

  13. Labour don’t actually need a campaign, they just need to keep criticising the insane back of a fag packet manifesto the Tories are coming up with.

  14. As much as this “policy” is a vacuous announceable with no real thought behind it, I’d be interested to hear some non-stupid people (i.e. not Tories) discuss the idea of national service in a bit more depth.

Plenty of very functional countries (e.g. all the Scandis except Iceland) have some kind of conscription/draft system, and in an increasingly unstable Europe, I don’t think it’s necessarily a complete non-starter to consider it.

  15. Forget national service.

The important news here is that at the launch of an election campaign a minister is openly criticising the PM. Oh, and Sunak is playing it by ear.
