Hey I keep getting calls from 0800 072 0116 and this text but I haven’t made any UC/Benefits application so I believe it’s a scam I also called dhss and they said they don’t have this number but they were unsure as they can only see majority of extension numbers.. anyone else got same from that number?

  1. Just block the number, I block several numbers per week at this point. I have my phone set to not even ring if it’s not a number in my contacts list

  2. I applied for a Finance loan in the past and this looks like the right number for them, so it seems more likely that someone applying for such a loan has fucked up when putting their number down on the form

  3. If you google it it is a dfc number but it’s not the one they’d give out for you to phone in to – which is why whenever you’ve phoned, they’ve said its not theirs.

    Scammers could be spoofing the number (honestly you have to be so fucking on the ball these days)

    It’s not necessarily a scam it could be someone’s either put the wrong mobile/number has been unclear/number has been mistyped. Or it could be someone trying to claim under your name.

    I’m assuming it’s been discretionary support you’ve been checking with & they’ve said no claim – so it’s more likely to be option A than B
