Kompany’s first project at Bayern is to create clarity in the case of Davies. FCB wants to know whether he will extend his contract. The problem is that Davies is not accepting Bayern’s final offer (around €13m) and wants to move to the category of the top earners (€20m), which the club won’t pay.

  3. Seems kinda easy. Either excepts or he is out. If that same offer is available he is crazy to deny it. I like Phonzie but he is the player he is and at best could show minimal improvement. Which is a minor shame but he can still play a specific role.

  11. He has been way too inconsistent to be demanding 20. He’d be lucky with 13. If he wants to go play for a club with money out their ears who will pay that fine, but he cannot honestly believe he deserves that money off the back of this season.

  13. I know these professional players have a high self-confidence and such, but how is someone like Davies looking at his performances and is thinking that this would be worth €20m to anyone.

    Like, does he really think he’s been one of the top performers at the club?

  14. He is not a 13 m player let alone a 20 m. His season was shambolic, ye the goal was nice against Madrid but his general play all season was soo bad. Don’t think I have seen a good touch from him at all.

  16. Its still all speculations. But if true, either he or his agent are really greedy and not self reflected at all. No offer from real (if true) speaks volumes too. I dont see him starting there currently.

  17. If Davids wants to stay, I’d only keep him as versatile Winger/LB Backup. We need a batter main LB anyway. And in this Position, 13 Mil would be a great deal for him. 
    And it doesn’t seem to me like many clubs are eager to take him atm, so his hesitation is not really understandable.

  18. I’d aactually prefer to keep him, but if he stays play him as a winger. He’s just not that good as a left back

  19. 20 is too much but they should not make the same mistake like with Kroos and then watch him rock at Real Madrid.

  22. He hasn’t improved at all being a LB, at this point I’m actually more interested in how he would perform as a winger, I mean that’s what he was in the first place when we signed him. If we get Hernandez and we have to keep Davies, I’d rather have him be a back up for Coman and/or Gnabry who are both constantly injured

  23. €13m / yr is ridiculous. It would be best for us if he turns that contract offer down and we sell this summer.

    I want us to keep Davies but he hasn’t done anything to deserve €13m / yr, especially when we are paying for so many undeserved salaries already.

  25. 10years ago this happened to Kroos. Look how “bad” Davies was this season. I guess if this would’ve been clarified before the season, he would have played much better. But … hätte hätte Fahrradkette..as we say in german

  26. Then it’s settled. We should let him go ASAP and start looking for a replacement.

  27. 2 things to keep in mind:

    1. Davies is one of the players that could benefit from the coaching change. His issues are mental. Can he focus on his game and get back to basics? It’s important that Kompany has a good talk with him.

    2. Bayern can’t force him out as long as he’s under contract. They don’t have much leverage. With that said, if he’s not convinced by the project and doesn’t wanna sign the extension, both he and the club have to facilitate a move out this summer. It would benefit both.

  28. I want him out as well because of his demands but people acting like he had a terrible season or something his stats are looking great actually if course they don’t tell the whole truth but he is still one of the best Lb’s in the world and still very young.

  31. Literally doesn’t deserve the offer he rejected. How unaware is he/his camp. He can be happy, if he doesn’t sit on the bench for most of next season with his performances last year.

  32. Controversial take: Davies can play at the high level (showing his flash of brilliance against Madrid when we needed something).

    He just needs to change his mental. Even Gnabry and L. Sane have played like ass this season and get paid more than my boy. Compromise with him in the middle and continue to give him a chance. One more season with a new coach is what I’m willing to see and defend him on.

  35. He is leaving for free next year. Writing is on the wall.

  36. Davies is forcing one of two things:

    – Leaves on a free transfer in one year
    – Get sold now at a cheap price while there’s still some resale value

    I suspect his next club doesn’t want to fork out the money Bayern values him at. That club is also patient enough to wait one more year, so it’s not an urgent signing.

    One club that doesn’t like to spend much and values free transfers is also initialled FCB.

  37. Bayern is a shit show ever since 2013(after jupp left) when momentum needed to be used properly and do what RM did instead all these years. I endured worst Bayern in period from 2002-2009 and always had hope we will catch up to RM but that hope is officially dead now since 2020(last cl and last momentum).
    I don’t give a shit about finances(bragging about positive balance), there is no fck.in trophy for that.

  38. I like his style of play (big fan of attacking fullbacks) and he seems to be a funny and friendly guy who suits us well. But he hasnt improved since his breakout season and we need some more defensive stability which he apparently is not able to bring to the table. We have so many good RBs and Mazraoui for example can play LB aswell. Just sell him and use the money to bring in a proper DM so Kimmich can focus more on setting up plays
