  1. She also said this a decade ago when they were making the movies.

  2. They didn’t want a fat princess Lea….not sure what the big deal is.

  3. Carrie mentioned they put her on a diet/exercise regimen before episode 7. I think she joked that “they wanted me… but not all of me.

  4. To be fair, they did the same thing with Mark Hamill. He lost 50 pounds for the new movies.

Hollywood doesn’t like overweight people for the most part. Women more than men of course but any typical “hero” type person is going to be pressured to look thinner.

  5. He said you don’t have to lose weight, YOURE BEUUUUUTIFUL

  6. How of all people did James Blunt have this scoop?

  7. I’m sure they do this for like over 75% of movies..? Like when some woman got hired for a role without auditioning, then they saw her and were like “oh you need to lose weight”. I think it’s reasonable?? In a job where you get to work one month a year I’d be ok if people reminded me to lose weight too. They have it so easy and still manage to complain and get sympathy from the people that have it so much harder

  8. She also had cocaine in her system when she died, right?

  9. The molds for a line of older, wiser, and thinner Leia action figures were already approved for production.

  10. I get the two british James confused- is this the “You’re Beautiful” bloke or the one who makes sick beats.

  11. These three quotes really should be the meat of the article

    > I was with her the day before she died, when she came down to my house

    > And she really put a lot of pressure on herself, started using drugs again and by the time she got on the plane, she had effectively killed herself

    >I took a different approach and did them with her, pretending to myself that I would guide her to redemption one day – just not today. As a result, her daughter Billie blames me in part for her death, and no longer speaks to me.

I wasn’t aware that Fisher’s death was caused by drug abuse. However, it‘s clear (to me, at least) that it’s not the “pressure to be thin” but the fact that Fisher had relapsed with her drug abuse. I don’t see any reason to believe that the pressure to be thin had any bearing on her using.

Instead, it was hanging out with the wrong crowd (like Blunt) that had a bigger effect on Fisher relapsing into drug abuse.

  12. Considering Leia’s main role in the new movies was mainly being a diplomat, and she was rarely, if ever in action scenes,

I think making Fisher lose weight was a frivolous endeavor on Disney’s part.

Meanwhile, Hamill had more physical stuff to do, so for him, it makes some sense.

  13. She should have told them to go fuck themselves and get even fatter. What are they gonna do? Pass on having Leia come back?

  14. I read this headline wrong…I thought it said “to be with him before her death”
