  1. You can have any flag you want, but if a case comes before the court relating to the people that flag supports, you need to recuse yourself. Flying that flag means you’ve already made up your mind on that issue.

  2. They straight up need to just investigate every Supreme Court justice at this point. Who knows what shady shit they’re doing meanwhile Thomas and Alito are just a distraction.

  3. Nothing to see here folks, nothing will come of from any “investigation” these grifters are set for life and are consequence free

  4. Shouldn’t this technically be the House’s responsibility? They’re the ones with the power to impeach after all.

  5. Can someone help me explain the end game to this?

Let’s assume that somehow through whatever Congressional review that we have a conclusion that Alito supports the actions of Jan 6 and all of the things that go with that. What can be done after that? There’s no action that can be taken that I’m aware of. Ask them to recuse, sure, but there’s no mechanism for punishing the Court.

A better route would be drafting legislation for an Amendment to fix the Supreme Court.

  6. Going hard on issues like this damages credibility on legitimate issues. This is a nothingburger and I can’t stand Alito but time to move on.

  7. Isn’t what Justice Thomas did much worse? Did the Senate launch inquiries into that (legit question not rhetorical)? I seem to be hearing a lot more concerning this from Congress than the funny money Thomas has been dabbling in, which is odd to me as I doubt there’s any serious consequence that comes from a SCOTUS Justice flying flags of any kind outside his house. Seems like basic 1st amendment stuff and I’m not a fan of either one.

  8. Dick Durbin needs to get some balls instead of politely asking Roberts for a conversation.

  9. >“…we have a Democratic Senate majority,” she said, adding, “In the Senate, we have gavels. There should be subpoenas going out. There should be active investigations that are happening.”

    >While Democrats, she said, are preparing to take the House majority and launch a “broader effort to stand up” for democracy, “I also believe that when Democrats have power, we have to use it.”

    >“We cannot be in perpetual campaign mode. We need to be in governance mode. We need to be in accountability mode with every lever that we have,” she continued, “because we cannot take a Senate majority for granted, a House majority for granted or a White House for granted.”

    >**“And every single minute matters, and we have to use our power when we have it.”**

Bold added. Tick tock, tick tock.

  10. Why are Democrats wasting oxygen on this? Alito could fly Nazi, Confederate, and Soviet Union flags all at once with zero enforceable consequences besides impeachment. He could literally come straight out and say “I think the US should become a dictatorship under Donald Trump, and I will use my office accordingly” and nothing would happen because the Republicans in Congress would _never_ impeach one of their own justices.

I don’t see beating the drum on this animating votes nearly as much as other SCOTUS-related topics like abortion, which is a better argument towards the real goal of regaining a liberal majority than beating up any particular cretinous justice.

  11. So what is the goal of these investigations? Is the goal to build evidence that he should be recused from any trials involving Jan 6th? Is the goal to highlight that he’s forsaken all notion of being an impartial judge? We know he’s going to vote party lines and make up a reason why they are going against precedents for whatever is ‘best’ for the republican party.

  12. How has Thomas not had the same treatment I will never understand.

  13. What sort of investigation could they do beyond the one the New York Times has already done?

  14. I mean… why is this coming out now, four years later? wouldn’t a photo and eye witness accounts suffice? Does it have to be a whole thing? It just boggles my mind that stuff like this takes SO long to “discover” and “investigate”. I am all for due process but does anyone else feel like these investigations just drag out years when they are fairly black and white?

  15. Somebody better give socialist Barbie a history lesson before she hurts herself.

  16. Honestly, they should have done this on Clarence Thomas and his wife for their involvement on Jan 6 (along with the lobbying done to Alito and Thomas). This is small compared to those actions.

  17. Forgive my ignorance, but why is showing your bias with a couple of flags more egregious than taking lavish vacations that were paid for by someone who has a case appearing before the court? Where was the launch of investigations for alito and thomas, then?

  18. What’s the point of having “checks and balances” if the judicial branch can just do whatever the fuck they want?

  19. Let me fill you in on what will happen here.

    Absolutely fucking nothing.

These POS’s are free to pull this shit without any consequence.

This is the world we live in today folks.

I’m so fucking sick of this country.

  20. I feel a free quarter million dollar luxury RV is a much bigger transgression. However, we get the rot out of SCOTUS is fine with me.

  21. So if you have a justice that can’t define what a woman is, does that mean she should recuse herself from any issues related to women’s health?

  22. I’m so not trying to be mean or uncaring, and I’m sure I’ll get a backlash for this. Not everything is lgbtq+ related. It is not all about this group of amazing people. But it’s not always about you.

  23. I don’t care what the flags used to me. They now have a new meaning, and it’s not good. I feel that douchebag has tainted the American flag. The trumplican party rearranges things to fit their scenario. Most of the time, it’s a lie. You can take anything and turn it into something like this. Whether you believe in it or not. I truly have to look at the American flag now and remember what she used to mean. It makes me very sad. I do love my country, but I’m embarrassed to be an American right now. This great, great country, and we are not helping. Not enough, in my opinion.

  24. Jackson recused herself from a case involving her Alma-mater….

Alito… and Thomas refuse to recuse themselves from cases where there is an obvious conflict of interest….

  25. Do Clarence and Ginni too. Becauae she sure as shit led parts of that then do Charlie kirk and how he said he funded criminal acts

  26. By design, the Senate’s job is to protect the rich and powerful. As usual, don’t expect any action, you won’t get any.

  27. Cool but how about investigating his relationships with the donor class? How about finding out the name of his Harlan Crowe-style benefactors and investigating them?

Investigating the flags isn’t a problem because it seems like political theater, it’s a problem because it’s 100% undeniably political theater. It is a conversation that doesn’t include the donor class or corruption.

Investigating flags is just a vibe check. This guy deserves a federal corruption investigation.

  28. I think this is where we have the constitutional crisis.

Clearly corrupted judiciary at the highest level with no mechanisms of remedying it in the law, but we’re also finding that by the letter *there’s no method of enforcement for SCOTUS decisions in the first place.*

We may be approaching a point where states or federal law enforcement refuse to enforce a bonkers decision from a compromised court and we kick one leg out from a three-legged stool. We all know if that happens, there are certain AG’s that will take that as cue to throw out any past SCOTUS decisions they disagree with.

We’d no longer be looking at the Rule of Law being pushed to its limits, we’d see it thrown out altogether, and that could lead to real deal secession and conflict between states.

This may be part of the plan – delegitimize the court and burn it to the ground so its past rulings are no longer enforceable. Yikes.

  29. So someone working for the American government can’t have a flag of historical significance from the American revolution…?

  30. The judicial committee should have subpoenaed Roberts and Thomas and forced them to deal with that. Again, even if this comes about, the Dems have zero spine to do what needs to be done. They’ll, maybe, _ask_ and then never follow up.

  31. Reddit banned my account last time. I said he had to be removed. He must be investigated thoroughly like every member of the Supreme Court, including the liberal judges, and we need to remove every one of them that’s corrupt, yes of course I believe it’s the five thugs on the right.

  32. We know that the flag was there. They don’t deny it, so exactly what are we investigating?
