  1. Actor Robert De Niro called Donald Trump a “clown” who is bent on destroying American democracy outside the New York City courtroom where the Republican presidential candidate’s hush money trial is being held.

     

    De Niro, a longtime Democrat who recently voiced an ad for Democratic President [Joe Biden](https://www.reuters.com/topic/person/joe-biden/), attended a Biden campaign event outside the Manhattan courtroom with two former law enforcement officers, Harry Dunn and Michael Fanone, who were at the U.S. Capitol when it was attacked by [Trump](https://www.reuters.com/topic/person/donald-trump/) supporters on Jan. 6, 2021.

     

    The remarks are part of the Biden campaign’s attempt to use wall-to-wall media coverage of [the Trump trial](https://www.reuters.com/legal/jury-trump-hush-money-trial-hear-closing-arguments-before-deliberations-2024-05-28/) to push their own message: Trump is a danger to democracy.

     

    Trump’s campaign dismissed the event as a stunt.

  4. Trump’s campaign called it a stunt and if anyone is an expert on stunts, it would be the Trump campaign. A clown car with identically dressed men unloads each day to spout nonsense about the trial. Too bad they don’t have a real job…oh wait.

  21. My take on DeNiro’s hatred for Trump: DeNiro is stillw, in his heart, a working-class city neighborhood guy who despite his immense success has a chip on his shoulder. He was raised by his mother in the Greenwich Village and Little Italy neighborhoods. De Niro befriended many street kids in Little Italy, much to the disapproval of his father. Some, however, have remained his lifelong friends.

    As such, he hates assholes like Trump who probably screwed over at least one of DeNiro’s tradesmen friends

    He’s a 2 times looser. Anyone who thinks a 3rd will be different. Needs to be reminded constantly.

    He lost popular vote twice. And only won first electoral vote thanks to Russian interference.
