Riding past mangled, fire-blackened, rusting versions of the vehicle you’re on wouldn’t be morale boosting, but you might be able to convince yourself that the destruction happened days or weeks or even months ago.
Riding past a tank or armoured vehicle that’s still burning is something else again.
