  1. >The short leaflet, which includes a quotation from “Padraig Pearce” – a mis-spelling of 1916 leader Pádraig Pearse – has a number of inaccuracies.

    Off to a strong start

  2. Really goes to show what sort of gobshit*s they are, spelling mistakes, grammar & load of misinformation, for people who bang on about the Irish constitution they haven’t a clue! If there’s misinformation on candidate’s leaflets like that you should be fined & made to correct it.

Reminds me of someone handing out leaflets about the ‘’Irish constitution’’ about how they can’t force us to do this or that during Covid & a guard made a holy show of them saying that’s actually the constitution of the UK.
The clip is out there on twitter.

  3. Sure, there’s a lot of wacky and racist candidates in this election.  But the government parties are just as guilty of lying and misinformation as the crazies. They just do it in a smoother fashion.

Edit: Also funny how everyone on this sub is constantly moaning about the government. But point out that “the government are liars too” and you get downvoted. Obviously a sign that you spend too much time on Reddit if you interpret my comment as being in support of racists.

  4. My favorite part

    >Ireland First would “reverse anti-Ireland legislation” and enshrine “pro-Ireland mandates”.

They should get in contact with that other guy who wants to “make crime illegal”

  5. I don’t know about this party in any detail. But when the fact-checkers behind the good information project are doing their best to tear you down they must be doing something right.

If I want disInformation and outright lies regarding immigration, neutrality and other matters I will just check out the official government’s press releases.

Immigration and all that it implies further on down the road is going to be the defining topic of many elections going forward.

Candidates who stand on an anti-immigration podium are going to have a couple of major problems. Firstly there are just too many of them which makes it harder to stand out. Secondly an awful lot of government politicians are talking tough on matters like immigration that they know will resonate with the public, of course after the elections they will revert to doing nothing about it but a lot of older voters will still vote for them.

  6. I’m sure all the people that were going to vote Ireland First will, in light of this new data, reconsider.

  7. Who funded 2.3m leaflets? Imagine printing that many and then realising you spelled Pearse wrong. I’d like to have been in the room for that.

  8. Is Ireland first the one with the green postman pat in it?

  9. I got an Ireland First leaflet through the door . I looked up the candidate . He was sacked from An Post for kicking dogs .

  10. Don’t get too judgmental on other social media. This sub bans downvoted voices. If you think the community is a non jarring place, its because there is no political discussion. It is just an echo chamber of yes people

  11. “2,370,000 Ireland First flyers [are] about to be delivered to every letter box in the republic”.

They were delivered straight into my recycle bin and that’s where they’ll stay.

  12. Got one today. Read it and rightly fucked it in the bin
