Doesn’t he only need to be found guilty of at least one of the 34 charges to be a convicted felon?
It won’t (and probably shouldn’t) happen, but I’d be amused if the jury files into the deliberation room, then immediately files back out with a Guilty verdict.
Jury Foreman: Judge, I have the verdict, but I have taken the opportunity to add some language to address exactly how the jury felt.
Judge: Well that is highly unusual, but let me take a look . . . Ah yes, the Jury find the defendant “Guilty as Fuck, and furthermore, finds them to generally be an untrustworthy asshole. As a final note: yes, the defendant was totally sleeping.”
Now the die is cast. Its all in the hands of the jury, the Gods of Guilt.
All in all this is going to be rather uneventful. Merchan will give the instructions which will be the only real interesting part. Everything else happens out of sight.

We’re well protected against a hung jury. The Allen charge and the ability to replace a mask-off juror should be sufficient.
Once the verdict is released, there will be a rapid rush for who can post an article first
The jury’s decision will impact the future of the US
Very rare to say that this is a day that your kids will read about in history books.
Here’s what I’d love. The instant the jury toddle off to deliberate, Merchan finds Trump in contempt for recent gag order violations, and sentences him to a week in the slammer. This way when the jury find him guilty, we don’t have to listen to him whinge endlessly – for a few days at least.
Just out of curiosity when do jury deliberations begin?
Ive seen countless stories that they’re set to begin but no one has mentioned when they actually began.
I want to know because I want to know how long they’ve been deliberating for if they already started.
The calm before the storm?
So does Trump have to sit in court all day while folks talk about him and he doesn’t get to know what they’re saying?
He may not see prison but this is definitely his hell.
Maggie Haberman of the NYTimes:
“One thing that is worth remembering is that most of the people talking about the case on television have covered little to none of the actual trial in person. There is a lot of overheated commentary all around, and it has little bearing on what the jurors heard and will decide.”
If the Trump ringer they have hangs the jury, I am also going to hang the jury every time I get jury duty.
All they do is appeal right? Since this is a NY state case it only goes up to NY state supreme court it wouldn’t be a matter that would make it to the Supreme Court?
How many times do you think he’s going to poop himself till verdict?
With a guilty verdict, Diaper Don most likely gets probation and a fine, but I like to imagine him in Rikers and only given reusable cloth diapers he has to handwash himself.
Alas, in lieu of the dream, a felony conviction and mugshut while wearing a prison jumpsuit will suffice.
Convict him up.
This is seriously the end of his campaign. I don’t think people understand the magnitude of this. He is 100% going to be found guilty. No moderate will vote for a convict.
Regardless of whether or not Trump gets convicted, [these meltdowns](https://www.rawstory.com/trump-kangaroo-court/) are the funniest things I’ve read so far this year. His posts on Truth isn’t really indicative of a guy who thinks he’ll be acquitted on all counts.
I missed the last few hours of the closing arguments yesterday, does anyone know what time they ended up concluding?
I have to say MSNBCs coverage of this has been stellar. Tracking that and NYT liveblog and MSNBC is consistently about 3-5 minutes ahead with updates. Apparently all their reporters are using a shared Google doc and it shows because the updates get posted on the screen verbatim almost immediately
> Something to note as the jury is set to get the case in short order: once the jury goes into the jury room to deliberate, Trump and his legal team must remain inside the courthouse while the jury is here attempting to reach a verdict.

Donnie’s feeling the squeeze today… blowing up his diaper and truth social
Judgement day.
Who thinks Jury is back before end of day?
Don’t hold your breath if you are expecting any kind of accountability of justice to be served here. The American legal systems entire purpose is to protect the wealthy and powerful, and to be a tool to control the less wealthy and powerful, always has been, always will be.
> [Bromwich, NY Times] Good morning from the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse, where today jurors are expected to begin their deliberations in Donald J. Trump’s trial. They will discuss the case among themselves for the first time as they seek to determine whether Trump is guilty or not guilty of the 34 felonies with which he is charged.
> Closing arguments took place yesterday, and the lawyers will have no further opportunity to address the jurors. Instead, the jurors will hear from the judge this morning, who will instruct them on the relevant law before they leave the courtroom to deliberate.
Better get your Covvefe ready and pray to Tim Apple Donnie.

One thing that can happen today, but almost certainly won’t, is the defence asking for the jury to consider the lesser version of these charges, ie the misdemeanour version. For this to happen they’d have to waive the statute of limitations, which is 2 years for misdemeanours.
I would bet big he’s acquitted and he will “totally exonerated” himself to the whitehouse. Hope I’m wrong.
If you’re looking for a thematically-appropriate movie to watch while you wait, “12 Angry Men” is beyond phenomenal

How long till sentencing after verdict if found guilty
If he gets acquitted, just be like ‘see Donny, that wasn’t so bad, now just do it 3 or 4 more times…. At least’
CNN:
>Judge Juan Merchan tells the jury the reading of the instructions will take about an hour.
>He says the jurors will not receive copies of the jury instructions, but they may request that Merchan read them back to them either in whole or in part.
wait, they don’t get a copy??I hope they’re taking notes.
I remember the days when people were claiming that donald would never be indicted. We’ve come so far.
