there are thousands tens of thousands of people here in mashad to see the last stage of the late president Ibrahim R’s funeral uh procession his body will now be carried to the Imam Resa Shrine one of the most revered shrines in Shia Islam this is of course the image that Iran’s rulers wanted to project they wanted to project the image of a man a leader who was loved by his people the reality of course is more complicated than that he does leave behind a divisive Legacy now looking ahead there will be presidential elections on June 28th and the big question now for Iran’s political establishment is who will eventually replace the country’s supreme leader 85-year-old Ali K because that is of course where real power resides in Iran ricey was seen as a natural successor but with his death now big question mark surrounding the future here in Iran
