  1. Honestly. I have a bit of respect for the looney toons level he went too.

  2. So he illegally evicted her while she was visiting family. and was ordered to pay her 50k which he never did. He buried her car in a field like a maniac. He buried the rest of her possessions in the front garden. And then he illegally moved her other car to a field where it mysteriously caught on fire two days later…and he just has to give her a grand and that’s it? Aside from the illegal eviction, he stole two cars, both of which are now destroyed due to his actions

  3. LL is a nut job but if it’s the case I’m thinking of, the tenants didn’t cover themselves in glory either.

  4. You gotta love West Cork, never a dull moment down there

  5. Something about the Deep South; always one step away from Bull McCabe levels of excitement.

  6. Burying cars in West Cork is actually a fairly common occurrence.

I know of a guy who got caught drunk driving. He managed to give the gardaí the slip in the car. He drive home to his farm, got his digger and dug a hole on his land and drove the car into it and covered it up.

  7. > Chrysler Voyager mini-van

To be fair, it is a bit of an eyesore.

  8. So you can take your tenant’s car, bury it in a field, and walk away with only a €1,000 penalty and no conviction. What a great wee country for landlords!!

  9. that sounds like something a cartoon villain would do

  10. But it leaves him open to a personal claim for damages, could and hopefully will cost him a lot

  11. It’s fairly easy to see why he did what he did tbh if you put yourself in his shoes.

The immediate problem is he has fallen behind in the property’s mortgage. How do you get money to catch up? Best solution would be to rent the property out Needs rent fairly immediately but can’t get a response. No other option but to get a new tenant. However he needs the new tenant immediately or he loses the house.

This is where it gets to the wishy washy part. How badly do you want to save yourself from bankruptcy. If you were to go down the perfectly legal route eviction takes too long and you are in serious trouble with the mortgage. I don’t think you would keep your head up. If you’re willing to take your beating then fair enough. If you are willing to bend the rules then read on I guess, we are in for a rollercoaster.

So you have decided to dabble in a bit of the dark side, playing the it’s not cheating if you don’t get caught game (a game every politician and millionaire ever were county standard at). You decide it’s better to take a chance the tenant won’t return than go bankrupt. Hence you illegally evict her. First offense ✅. The next thing you need to do is get the house in a rentable condition. To do this you have to get rid of all her stuff. You can’t rent a house with two fucking shit boxes outside the door and her possessions.

So this leads to the question what do you do with the cars.
    A. Claim them.
    B. Insurance fraud
    C. Dispose of them.

Well firstly if you went with option A I think you wouldn’t get far unless you want to scrap them. The most you would gain is 1-2 grand for scrap. However, in this scenario you would be 100% liable and be charged with Theft.

    B. Insurance fraud. Try play it off they were stolen or an act of god destroyed them. The benefit of this is if she does return insurance is liable for her property, not you. However, it carries the risk you are caught committing insurance fraud.

    C. Dispose of them. Liable for value of cars but it’s not theft.

Considering this option A is a no go. Option B and C both have Thier merits. Assume one car was valued at 1,000 since that’s what he had to pay her and the other was more. For the sake of €1,000 trying to commit insurance fraud would be insanity, so you decide to dispose of the stupid Chevy. How do you dispose of a car? Can’t abandon it because if she comes back you need to be able to explain how you disposed of it. You let it in some random part of your land of course ✅

Now for the other car. It’s probably worth a considerable amount so making yourself liable for 5-10k (idk) isn’t the smartest move. So you simply commit a small bit of fraudulent activity 🤫. Ya that car just burst into flames, happens all the time.✅.

But seriously though, was there any other way around it?
