  1. Have the players all been working from home? Is that why they’ve been so shit?

  2. The various threads on this on the football subs have suggested United do not have enough office space to implement a return to working at the office as it stands.

  3. How to downsize the workforce without paying out for redundancies

  4. Sounds to me like there’s going to be a bunch of constructive dismissal claims against Man U.

Especially if the staff started in the pandemic and their listed place of work is actually their home.

  5. Unless it’s impossible to commute to the office now, nobody should take this offer. A bonus that can be worth up to a low end of 4 figures is paltry in comparison to a redundancy payout for a lot of staff and they know it.

  6. Sounds like a quick and cheap way to try and get rid of people stupid enough to take this ‘offer’. I hope they tell him to jog on and force him to pay a redundancy package.

  7. You’d think Manchester United would have better lawyers but just saying “it’s not voluntary redundancy” doesn’t magically exempt them from employment law.

ACAS must be rubbing their hands in glee.

  8. So during his brief tenure Jim Radcliffe has

    * Banned his employees from working from home
    * Argued that public money should be used to rebuild his crimbli stadium
    * Briefed that his manager is going to be sacked towards days before the FA Cup final
    * Started laying off his staff

All whilst himself living in Monte Carlo for tax reasons. I suspect he might be a bit of a cunt.

  9. Y’all need to grow the fuck up and go to the office.

I’d love to see people like you wake up at 4am to go to work at 6am and work until 4pm

  10. I like that they went with the identity of the club and got a new owner who is a an absolute sausage.

  11. TIL not wanting to waste money on transport, increase emissions by travelling and wanting a better work life balance means I need to grow up…

If you’re working a desk job it makes no difference whether you sit on your ass in an office building or in your home office. One saves people money and is better for the environment the other wastes hours a day commuting that you could be spending relaxing.

  12. For some reason people on reddit think office working is a punishment. How did we all survive before lockdown?

    *EDIT*
So I’ve just loads of bedroom dwellers explaining why being a recluse is good for their ‘mental health’ but failing to understand how social interaction actually works.
    Crazy

  13. I’m sure he’ll put his hand in his own pocket to pay the compensation…right?

  14. Headline is a bit misleading we only worked from home due to covid, I think its only fair to ask people to return to an office environment.
People do take the piss working from home and I do have first hand experience of this.
United is rotten to the core both on and off the field including its inferstructor.
On a further note I hope it all goes tits up Y.N.W.A 😉

  15. He’s like a mid-level office manager, just with the added billion, tax dodging and Brexiteer stains.

  16. Ratcliffe is becoming more and more scummy by the day. Self-serving dribble and if anyone thinks he has any other interests other than his own is delusional. Tax-haven parasite.

  17. Hes perfect for united. He sounds like a right backward twonk

  18. Does that include some of the players who’ve also been seen working from home during the season?

  19. I was watching BBC local (Manchester) news earlier and they said he’s doing this so they can invest more in the first team. Not the WFH but the fact they are asking all the staff to voluntarily resign. If they don’t voluntarily resign then they don’t get their yearly bonus now. What a nice fella and excuse.

  20. Every single person should just walk if they are able to

  21. (If any Manchester United staff see this, please do not make a [statutory flexible working request](https://www.gov.uk/flexible-working/applying-for-flexible-working) which MUFC must accept unless it is for [predetermined reasons](https://www.gov.uk/flexible-working/after-the-application) and if they do not accept, do not give a satisfactory reason and/or fire you or treat you worse because of the request, then definitely do not [appeal ](https://www.gov.uk/flexible-working/appeals)and/or take them to an employment tribunal. Also, whatever you do, definitely do NOT look at the ACAS [Flexible Working Guidance](https://www.acas.org.uk/flexible-working) or [Flexible Working Code of Practice](https://www.acas.org.uk/acas-code-of-practice-on-flexible-working-requests)).

  22. It seems unfair, but it was becoming a logistical nightmare to mail the ball from house to house between passes.

  23. Add this to list of unlikeable things about Man United.

  24. “We want Sir Jim over Qatar! He’s from Manchester, he’s one of us”

And what does he do when he gets hold of United? Fires all of the local staff, creating redundancies in the area he’s from. So much for being a local lad.

  25. A friend of mine used to work for him. He said every time he entered a room it felt like the satan itself has entered. No joke, he and everyone got cold chills. And he’s also he was an absolute t&@£ to his employees

  26. I can’t wait for this football fanatic to make utd great again. You can already tell that his decisions are gonna be just what this club needs…..but seriously when are these top business men gonna realise running a football club no matter how big or small is not like running any business they ever have. Clearly a very man and wonderful at the business hes done…but a football club isn’t a business and is only viewed as a business by people who aint a true fan if said team. Fans like actual fans of utd should be a little worried about what’s coming, consumers or customers of utd are gonna be ecstatic that this rich wealthy man who’s made so much money is now in control

  27. Colour me socked, the parasitic cunt is behaving like a parasitic cunt.

  28. “With this feedback in mind and the fact that we respect each colleague’s right to choose their approach to work, we will allow those who wish to resign now to claim their bonus early for this season if they cannot work from our offices from 1 June.”

We respect your right to choose, as long as you choose to work from the office, if you don’t then we are going to predetermine your dismissal.

If I was a United employer I absolutely would not be printing off this email, or making a flexible working request, I certainly wouldnt want to take independent legal advice on whether the payment of the bonus was linked to a compromise agreement and I absolutely wouldn’t think about suing my employer for unfair dismissal if I was inclined to respectfully continue working from home.

Sir Jim, before you sack a load of your hometown locals you might want to look at the absolute peanut that drafted and approved the email which has potentially opened you up to a shit load of liability – utter prehistoric 🔔 end
