  1. Im sure its inflated in movies, though I think we’d be surprised by the percent of women who truly have experienced sexual assault.

  2. Aren’t something like 1/4 women SA’d at some point in their lives? Makes sense that that’s represented in film, no?

  3. I was going the other way, I’m surprised at how many women have sexual assault in their backstories

  4. It’s crazy how many there are. Almost like a number of writers think rape is a right of passage for women

  5. It’s straight-up bad writing. Sexual assault is all too common for women. That doesn’t mean that’s the only story to tell. It would be like if 75% of male characters all had a tragic past in the military, and only 25% of writers bothered to imagine the million other motivations a man night have.

  6. This is my litmus test for shows/movies.

If there is ever a rape or sexually violent scene, I simply choose not to watch it.

  7. Imagine my shock the last 15 years when every main character had a spandex suit and could fucking fly.
