Maybe Romania should change its laws and regulations…
Romanian here. Through political connections and bribes, wood thieves have stolen vast amounts of these forests. Investigations have been made by the press. People have been killed to cover it up. Theres endless footage of trucks moving this cargo, bla bla bla. Its as documented and repetitive as school shootings or train derailments in the US. Nothing has changed.
Because the people stealing it, and eventually selling it to IKEA, are the people that support local politicians, who support national politicians. The minister of the Environment has been connected to this ffs…. IKEA, im sure knows about this, they arent stupid. I know about it, and im a jackass on the internet. But they fake ignorance so the wood keeps flowing.
IKEA furniture is a live saver if you’re on the move often. Inexpensive and reliable.
IKEA is the worst (and best?) example or a European multinational gone haywire. /Swede
Alternate headline: “Ikea harvests renewable resource from forests it owns to create products widely considered useful”.
You are our neighbor, aren’t you? 😂
Btw, there is a problem in Serbia too. The Serbian Orthodox church, together with corrupt politicians is cutting down the forest in the national park Fruška Gora near Novi Sad (to make problems even worse, Vojvodina has extremely low coverage of wood (about 6%))
It’s only bad quality if you have take it apart again. Even then the price is great for what you’re getting.
Depends on the category of course though,
IKEA’s plushies >
IKEA for sure has some blame here but they aren’t sneaking in there to chop down the forest, people of power in Romania is selling it to them; which are the ones that should take 95% of the blame here.
Fucking greedy assholes, along with local traitors, corrupt politicians and corrupt EU leaders that allow this kind of shit!

Humanity and this world suck ass.
“…. operations complied with national and European laws.” Says IKEA.
Well then the law needs changing.
How the fuck are you planning on building furniture then? Do you want everything to be made of plastic?
I wouldn’t say Ikea furniture is bad quality
While true… There are definately 2 parties involved here… The folks the one that buys (IKEA) and the one that sells…
My main problem here is that their furniture is crap.
I recommend watching [this vid](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPj88MKNnk8) just to show the sh*t going on about the matter.

Comments on the vid also mention several regions where IKEA was apparently taking wood from ([I assume the cases are something similar to this one](https://earth.org/ikea-implicated-in-logging-protected-siberian-forests/)) so if anybody has some intel on that, that would be amazing
