With the other woman going for just liking a tweet saying about the isreali lobby I can’t see how she’s wrong. Don’t think she should’ve her job but they are purging the left
Diane Abbott is actually a nightmare. They should just expel her from the party and consign the past to the past.
Says she has been banned from running to journalists. The leader comes out some hours later and says that’s not true. So a few hours later she comes out and says Labour is carrying out a “cull” of left-wing candidates.
So again in a few hours, Starmer will come out and say that’s not true.
She is a circus act. Expel her, ride the 24 hours of negative press and be done with it already.
She will be in the Jungle before next Christmas.

I’m confused – does Diane Abbott want the Tories to win? Genuinely baffled that she wants to be a Labour member, wants to stand as a Labour candidate and yet appears to be putting significant effort into slating and discrediting the party at every turn. It truly feels as though she’d rather that Labour loses so she has a shot at retaking control of the party. It comes across as exceptionally self-serving and lacking in any kind of awareness. I felt truly sorry for her most recently when she was a victim of racist and sexist abuse and was silenced in parliament but, frankly, her behaviour now is bizarre, dishonourable and I struggle to respect her professionally.
I mean, she’s right. I don’t agree with a lot of the stuff she’s said recently, but she’s correct on this one. Kier has actively been purging the left from Labour to appeal to Tory voters.
It’s not so much an accusation as a statement of fact, regardless of how you feel about Abbott.
Diane’s had the whip restored a matter of hours and she’s already plunged Labour into a new crisis.
Starmer should have nipped this in the bud months ago rather than dither over her future in the Labour party but it’s pretty clear a number of salty Labour lefties have now jumped on the band wagon and are out to cause trouble. Its right what they say about Labour having the ability to clutch defeat from the jaws of victory.
Watching her talk last night it’s clear she has no place being anyone’s MP. She should retire with a strong legacy
I mean, we can literally all see that Labour have been getting rid of left wing candidates, not a controversial opinion at all.
I think it’s time the whip was removed and followed by an expulsion. She’s literally the biggest vote winner for the tories now. This morning Hunt defended the record debt, poor services, huge tax bill and NHS problems with “well Starmer can’t deal with Abbott, so how can he run the country?” to which the presenters nodded with agreement.
Like lancing a boil, it’s best to do it in one go and be done. It’s better to lose one or two seats in London (although the local support is vastly overstated) than lose 150+ nationwide.
All the policies on tax and NHS are being drowned out by someone realising their time on the gravy train is over

Why does anyone care about Diane Abbott. Yes she was a trailblazer, now she’s an embarrassing hasbeen.

Not surprising labour are pulling this shit. Labour have moved so far to the right under starmer that they are hardly recognisable any more. They are no different now than David Cameron’s conservatives
The country wants economically left wing politicians. Not socially left wing politicians. These champagne socialists are always the latter.

The rest is a side show, but not a bad one. Abbott is actually encouraging soft Tories over if they believe a left wing purge. They see DA unhappy, makes them happy. Keep going. Take every centrist vote I can get.
It’s not an accusation, it’s a simple statement that the Starmer Clique is driving anyone who’s left wing in any meaningful way out of the Labour Party.
Look at the election results from 2019, those huge swings against Labour were because the party was not electable, they’ll probably swing back to Labour again now that the party has refocused onto clause 1 of the party constitution, that which is all about representation in Parliament.
Purge or not, she needs to be ousted. At this stage she’s a hindrance and attracting nothing but negativity. She seems to be more focused on herself rather than Labour winning an election.
It’s not an accusation when it’s true. Whether you agree with the purge or not is an entirely separate discussion.

Yet Angela Rayner will be deputy PM…. you couldn’t get more left.
Both of the following statements can be true at the same time:
1. Diane Abbott is an absolutely incredible person, who smashed through barriers and has put up with huge quantities of racist and sexist abuse.
2. She is deeply embedded within a faction of the party that is highly unpopular with the wider electorate and has been a consistent liability for Labour as a party seeking power.
The easy response from the Party is just to say ‘you’re totally fine to run’. That way she’ll be shown up and keep the seat safely Labour.
But under Corbyn the right leaning candidates were purged or does everyone forget that.
Diane Abbott the racist? The person who says white blonde Scandanvian nurses are not suitable for the community of Hackney. The assertion being because they are not black.
The woman who claims white mothers do less than black mother?

This woman has no place in Labour and I am flabbergasted she has such support after the nonsense she speaks. She gets mocked because she gets numbers wrong which is amazing because she says far far worse things.
If a white person said half the stuff she did they would be branded racist and hounded out by the left but she gets a free pass? Why?
The left wing of Labour will hand the Tories another election win out of spite.
She would be better off in the Monster Raving Looney Party, and Labour would be better off with Count Binface.
Diane Abbott is a trouble maker and colour me surprised that she is causing issues during the election.
She is a trailblazer and has done a hell of a lot to help and bring to attention black issues and representation. But, she is also racist, has said many stupid things and just needs to retire now and stop ruining her own legacy.
This is fantastic for Labour. You cannot buy publicity as good as this.
An absolutely hated, utterly loathed left wing figure that the electorate roundly rejected five years ago is standing on her soapbox and declaring that Keir Starmer is absolutely NOT in league with people like her.
Even better, that he is deliberately pushing the party of other hard left figures that the majority of people disdain the politics of.
She thinks she is striking a blow to Starmer but in fact she is rendering Labour far more electable to far more of the country.
Purging these people was absolutely necessary after the disaster of 2019.
