I recently bought a box of old camcorder's video tapes on the flea market in Place du Jeu de Balle in Brussels with the purpose of reusing them for my own camcorder. These were dozens of travels made by a flemish family, documenting their holidays all around the world. Before reusing them I couldn't let myself erase all those memories so I decided to transfer them into files and sort them out.

The box of MiniDV tapes

Those souvenirs are dated from 2000 to 2009. The destinations includes: USA, Mexico, Cuba, Morocco, Egypt, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, Croatia, Kenya, Tanzania, Turkey, India, …

I have found the identity of a father because he passed away tragically during COVID. Since his death was a subject spoke all around the Belgian the press and with the help of another nerdy friend, I could identify him with certainty.

The family I am looking for is the family of this person.

If somebody can help me reach that family I would be pleased to give them back their holidays videos.

Please do not post any personal information about them in the comment section, send me a DM or if you know them personally, let them know this exists.

As an example, here is a picture of him found on the tape marked \"Egypt 2001\".

  1. Both awesome and heartwarming. I wish you the best of luck mate.

    Great idea.

  2. That’s a really cool project! Since you know his name and location, did you try reaching out to people with the same family name on Facebook? You probably only need to reach one distant relative to get the information you want to find his close family.

  3. I hope you find them but it can’t be difficult with all that information. Goodluck.

  4. Good luck!

And for people who didn’t see the link, it is **Roger Van Droogenbroeck** from Lembeek, if that helps the search
