Daniel Pålsson was out hunting for bears and had finally managed to kill a female bear on Storrisliden. After going home for a while, carrying the bearskin over his shoulders, he came to the so-called Sköppaheja, north of Strömåker. There he was stopped by the bear male, who immediately attacked. Daniel Pålsson got the bear straight up in his arms but managed to pry the bear’s head over one shoulder. With his free hand he drew his knife and quickly stuck it into the bear’s neck. Thus the bear was stunned, but the giant had already had time to bite off the hunter’s nose and tear off quite a lot of flesh on one arm.
