Donald Trump will do or say whatever he thinks helps him at that particular moment. He has no principles, morality, or sense of commitment to or empathy for anyone or anything. He has neither memory nor foresight; he exists in a perpetual present of insatiable self-promotion and gratification.
So no, he won’t hesitate to change his position on this or anything else. He doesn’t mean it when he says he supports it, and he doesn’t mean it when he says the opposite. To Donald Trump, there is no one and nothing else but Donald Trump.
For those who are unfamiliar, Project 2025 is a nightmare with a very real chance of being implemented if Republicans ever win another federal election. Most of the legal guardrails that would block it have been eroded over the past 40 years, and the Supreme Court is now controlled by the very people who would most like to see it implemented.

In case people are unaware, among policies called for in the first 180 days of a conservative presidency:
• Eliminating LGBQI+ and transgender rights.
• Eradicating federal funding for DEI programs. Participation in any critical race theory or DEI initiative will be grounds for termination of government employees.
• Ending reproductive freedom and replacing the Department of Health and Human Services with the “Department of Life.”
• Ending climate change and environmental
policies by shutting down the Office of Domestic Climate Policy, the Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, the Office of Environmental Justice, and External Civil Rights, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, to name a few. Climate science will no longer be used in National Security.
• Slashing of the Department of Justice and dismantling the FBI and replacing their traditional independence from political pressure with fealty to the administration.
• Purging the government of apolitical civil servants by firing as many as 50,000 and hiring replacements from a database of personnel vetted for conservative values and loyalty, a “Conservative Linked In.” Successful candidates will undergo training at a “Presidential Training Academy” and be furnished “with the insight, background knowledge, and expertise in governance to immediately begin rolling back destructive policy and advancing conservative ideas in the federal government.”
• Eliminating the checks and balances built into three branches of government in favor of expanded control by the executive branch.
• Replacing the Department of Homeland Security with a 100,000-worker-strong immigration department, militarization of the border and an end to refugee programs.
• Fundamentally altering American diplomacy to push anti-abortion and anti-LGBTQ+ agendas, adopt a “human rights” regime distinct from the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and abandon international organizations and traditional diplomatic and security alliances.
Both parties are not the same.
An abysmally small number of people have even heard “Project 2025,” much less what is in it. It needs to be plastered everywhere between now and the election with highlights of what the GOP has in store for us. People are too lazy or crunched for time to read the thing cover to cover. Project 2025 is a far-right manifesto. It is a one-thousand-page bucket list of extremist policies that would uproot every government agency and disrupt the lives of every person who calls this country home.
I won’t detail every aspect, but I’ll share some highlights:
The Department of Education would be eliminated, cutting students off from civil rights protections and ending essential title one funding for K through 12 schools.
The Department of Justice would go on a murdering spree. It would rush to use the death penalty and expand its use to even more people while circumventing due process protections.
Project 2025 not only calls for national book bans in schools, but also creates a list of banned words for the federal government that would be deleted from quote, “every federal rule, agency regulation, contract, grant, and piece of legislation that exists,” end quote.
Here are just a few of the words on the list: diversity, gender, reproductive health, and of course conservatives want to ban the word abortion.
On that note,abortion care would be inaccessible and illegal, no matter where you live.
Take it from them: on page six of its playbook, Project 2025 states, quote “The *Dobbs* decision is just the beginning,” end quote.
People even in my district, the Massachusetts 7^(th), a leader in repro[ductive] justice, would be criminalized for pursuing essential healthcare.
Now, we could have an entire hearing on how these policies would quite literally ruin and end lives – and I didn’t even touch upon proposals for housing, climate change, worker protections, and more.
If enacted, Project 2025 would destroy the federal government as we know it.

The fact that he’s desperately trying to downplay this is a sign that (a) Democrats are actually winning with their messaging on it, and (b) he knows he’s fucked in court and probably in the polls in the next few months.
Of course he distances himself from Project 2025 to win the election and then doubles down on it if he gets elected. Do you expect Trump to have integrity?

Trump supporters appear blind to Trump’s many statements about being an autocratic leader hellbent on revenge. How do we know what he’ll do if he regains the White House? He tells us every day. It will be scorch earth.
Trump is performative arts with a dangerous authoritarian twist. He is a carnival barker who praises dictators and incites violence. In his term as President, there were guardrails. Those guardrails are gone. It is not just Trump. It is a well coordinated conservative effort to abolish the separation of powers. Read Project 2025 and take it seriously. There is a conservative blueprint for authoritarian Christian nationalism and a path for the United States to become an autocracy.
Our democracy is in peril. Vote accordingly.
