First time I've heard of tariff tax. Just pass the buck onto the customers. A fine example of how consumers always lose out. Will this be a trend from here on out?
Pls don’t spend $30 on a faded plain black t shirt
Get you a carhartt for half the price & 10X the quality
Yikes. Thank our governments!
I love how so far no one in these comments is addressing the economic issue, but everyone here is an expert in giving fashion advice to someone they’ve never met or even seen, lol.
OP, since 2016 free trade in the US seems to have gone out of style, especially regarding China. Whether or not it’s specifically broken out in your receipt like this, you can expect taxes and fees like this one to continue to creep into the total cost of goods until the mood changes on this one.
i don’t understand those lines at all. seems like the savings should leave you with a negative total.
on another note, why do american shops have such awkward prices? 28.02? do they add a random multiplier when they set the price so it looks like the price is fair and precisely calculated?
Nope. Biden’s administration is already cracking down on this very illegal practice.
This is not a tax. It’s a fee charged by the seller so they can advertise a lower price than the actual price. Ticket Master and Airlines do it too. So do cell phone companies.
As an added bonus people (wrongly) think this is a government tax and not just money collected by and kept by the seller. The difference (before everyone chimes in) is that a *tax goes directly to the government!*.
Assuming Biden doesn’t lose his election he’ll keep cracking down and this’ll stop.
As consumers, we should start pushing for all inclusive prices. VAT is included in displayed price for most of the world. Most of the world don’t have Tip culture either.
