Yeah they’re filling up my recycling bin.. I asked the postman, and apparently that’s how it works before elections?
This year there are definitely far more of them. Nearly every day there are 3/4 of them dropped in our letterbox.
Had the same one for our current FG counsellor dropped in our door 4 times in the last 3 weeks. It’s a waste of money as I’m certain very few people read them. The waste is something else between these and the election posters.
Just to confirm – you know how you’re going to vote?
The Greens not having an election plan to get around this is the height of hypocrisy
I haven’t got any and I’ve already got my voting card… doesn’t anybody want my vote?
How else are you going to educate yourself on the vital issues of Ireland leaving NATO, Irish people being outnumbered by them forgieners and cows farting in Brazil?
Straight inta the bin!
Is it profligate? Yes. Is our hard won democracy worth a few leaflets and your door being knocked on every few years? I’d argue yes.
Whether you read them or not, I know of plenty of people who do – in my family we used to sit down before an election and read and discuss the leaflets. My parents took elections seriously – but their parents lived through the war of independence and I suspect it was drilled into them that this is a serious business.
Put a small bin with a cheap Lidl’s shredder on top of it directly below your letterbox and problem solved.
Also gives you a great excuse to say that you never received that summons, officer.
You may wanna get rid of pic that as it shows your address
I’m in the sticks, I’ve had maybe eight and so far no repeats
I literally have a bin clipped to inside my letterbox. I get zero other hard copy post.
I’m loving all the leaflets, use them to make English paper piecing templates.
My dog generally ignores people knocking but they are so frequent he is barking nearly all weekend. Postman can walk up do his thing and dog does nothing. But these feckers…. he doesnt like these feckers at all!
I wonder if this makes the postmen busier than Christmas, they literally have to deliver these leaflets to every house, must take ages.
The mountain of leaflets we have now though really highlights the number of crazies running in the European elections especially, it’s concerning.

You’ll get a great fire out of that.

There has been research to show that for example when you get rid of posters, new candidates suffer and turnout is reduced. https://www.rte.ie/brainstorm/2020/0218/1116223-election-posters-ban-voter-turnout/
