"It is not likely that Washington would like the Gripen plane to fly freely from the territory of Ukraine while the F16 plane has restrictions, says Norborg."

So, we are sending F-16's…but the US is tying one of Ukraine's hands behind its back again?

  1. ~~It’s a pity that Ukraine didn’t start the training of its pilots on the Gripens~~: it would have spared a lot of headaches and European partners have shown to be more reliable.

Edit: Ignorance is not a bliss, is just ignorance. (Tack Sverige)

  2. I’m alittle confused about this text. What does the US have to do with the Gripen? And if Sweden donated their own F16s why can’t they fly them out of Ukraine? How is it different than Denmarks saying that Ukraine can use the danish F16 without restriction?

  3. I hope other leaders speak up and strongly condemn Washington and whoever else called for the delay. Spineless policies like this wastes human life. Ukraine said they want them now. We want to give them. Each country should be free to decide how their weapons are handled.
    All this hesitation is ridiculous.

  4. Sweden is allowing Ukraine to strike targets inside Russia. Clearly the rest of the coalition doesn’t like the idea of Ukraine having the proper weapons to do so. It’s clear looking at how much help Sweden has pledged that it was supposed to include Gripens. The pilots have probably been in training for a while now.

I can’t see the reason for western hesitation anymore. The stakes of the war should be absolutely clear to everyone at this point, but our leaders just keep politicking and drip feeding Ukraine barely enough to hold on…

  5. What in the actual fuck. THAT is why they need it in the first place, because Ukrainians aren’t allowed to secure own border after pushing Russians beyond it, which is why Vovchansk and Kharkiv are under attack again.

Good on the European partnets putting pressure on US, but Gripens? Just send them.

  6. This is a non-news, because most of the planes are coming from Danish and Dutch stocks. Both countries don’t see a problem with using their weaponry on Russian territory. Belgium wants their F-16 to be used in Ukraine only. Well, “Belgium, Netherlands, what’s the difference!?” say the Ukrainian pilots and fly where ever the fuck they want.

  7. At some point, we may see news that the US has decided to put Patriots to Russia so it can protect its nuclear military facilities.

  8. Who would fly those Gripens? The Ukrainian barely have any pilots to fly F-16s, they have no pilots or crew to use Gripens…

  9. Ah of course, the old “we would Totally send this stuff but we don’t wanna make the US look bad”.

  10. Ukraine has an excellent record of only hitting legitimate Russian military targets with their own Ukrainian weapons. They aren’t killing civilians and targeting Russian schools and shopping centers.

We should allow them to hit legitimate Russian military sites with **ALL** western weapons.

Russia needs to know that if they escalate we will respond accordingly. Whether that’s giving Ukraine more powerful weapons or shooting down missiles and so on.

They have to be shown that there is no way they will win.

  11. It wouldnt surprise me if the US blocked Gripens because they want F16s to be seen as the liberators of Ukraine

  12. We need to stop asking the Ukrainians to fight this war with one hand tied behind its back. If Ukraine is capable of striking targets in Russia, they should be allowed to do so.
