Fast ein Drittel der Kanadier hält einen Weltkrieg für wahrscheinlich, und noch viel mehr glauben, dass Kanada nicht darauf vorbereitet ist, ergab eine Umfrage.

People always think a third world war is going to happen soon. It won’t.
I mean, the only intersection that matters is people that think that a World War is Likely and that Canada is not ready.
Saying that “a lot more than 1/3 of Canadians don’t think that Canada is ready for a World War” is irrelevant because the other 2/3s would have no reason to expect Canada to be ready for a World War if they don’t think that one is likely.
How could anyone in the northern hemisphere be “ready” for a world war?
It will happen eventually.
Maybe in 50 years when resources are low.
Defo in 100 years.
Pilots, and planes. Develop and acquire many pilots and fighter aircraft. We cant sustain a ground offensive but we can sure as hell wreak havoc from the sky.
So, less than half believe what most know to be nonsense.
Always nice to hear from CADSI. Fuck off.
Historians will probably say in the future that it had already started at this point. I don’t think WW3 will be a nuclear war as expected, it will be a series of regional big wars and simultaneous combat in the information space, possibly also in the literal space. Also an economic war between trade blocs.
Canada is not a serious country.
It’s the 40th Anniversary of the British miniseries Threads (with some Australian help) and I can’t believe we’re still having to even think about the brink of oblivion again. It was bad enough the first time back in the 1980s.
Shame on successive Liberal and Conservative governments who, after decades of under-funding, dysfunction and neglect, have got Canada to this pathetic situation.
Liberals have been up-front about their lack of military support, but Canadian Conservatives have wrapped themselves in the flag and talked big …but not delivered (where is our promised Arctic deep-water port, Stephen Harper?).
Canadians should avoid voting for Liberals or Conservatives; they cannot be trusted and now the situation is critical.
Just like 1/3 of Americans support Trump. It’s almost like 30% of people are complete morons who are very susceptible to propaganda. This is why conservatives using fear to get votes is extremely dangerous to society
Maple syrup stocks are dangerously low
Meanwhile, about 1/3 of all Americans are completely ready for a second civil war.
Me when I spread nonsense propaganda to scare people
Better question is who *is* ready. Even the US, with all the might of its MIC would struggle to switch to a war economy and would probably suffer economic collapse (at least partial) in the events of global war. That’s not even talking about countries like China who can’t depend on national oil reserves or other ressources of the such when global trade routes collapse in the wake of global war.
I don’t think world war three will happen, at least not anytime soon, but if it does no one is ready because no one can be ready
So, can a World War happen simply because people believe it’ll happen? I wonder about that.
I’m not sure if the Canadians really believe that World War is imminent, but a lot of people have a very strong tendency to just follow the direction everyone else is going.
You tell them everyone is thinking something, they have this urge to follow. Maybe telling that it is the Canadians who believe in soon to be World War would add legitimacy to this, as opposed to saying the Mexicans, the Americans or the British who believe in that instead.
If that’s the case, it would make sense to add that the Canadians don’t think they are ready. Fear of not being ready when the time comes. Maybe that spurs spending on the military.
And if that’s the case, then Canada would be getting ready for a war that may not happen if everyone didn’t start getting ready for it in the first place.
Who is the modern day Basil Zaharoff though?
No one is ready for ww3, no matter what anyone says… so 1/3rd of Canadians are correct
Most countries are not ready including the enemy
I don’t believe Canada’s military even cracks 100k soldiers.

Don’t worry Canada, you’re our homies.
Love, your brothers and sisters in USA
The past was alterable. The past never had been altered. Oceania was at war with Eastasia. Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.
George Orwell, 1984
The US and China are both extremely ready for WWIII while literally no one else is, and that’s why it keeps not happening. The only conflict that could escalate to a World War is one between the US and China, and they don’t really want to fight because any direct conflict would be too destructive. It worked for the entirety of the Cold War and it’s still working today.
It will be another cold war, not ww3 and it’s already started.
I now know two people who’ve added a European passport – one for the UK and one for Greece. They’re ready to move should Trump win.
There armed forces have blue hair and don’t shave on parade diversity should be a pretty lethal fighting force straight white males need to take a back seat on the next one and they can show there stuff
Don’t worry Canadians. We got choo.
And if USA goes Fash, I’ll sneak up there with muh American guns and join up.
Who is ready for WW3? Russia sure as hell isn’t?
The Star. A trustworthy publication.
ffs.
lol with what army? we’d get stomped on so fast if the US decided it needed our water
Canadian were feared and hated in ww1 and ww2 so bring it on .
WW3 started 2 years ago when Russia invaded Ukraine fully. Most people don’t realize that yet, but future historians will know.
TBF, I don’t recall a single time that Canada has ever BEEN ready for a war.
Examples: WW1 has rifles that took themselves apart upon firing and would not handle any dirt. WW2 had virtually no navy to speak of and all the trained sea going personnel we DID have were either hoarded ashore or loaned to the English.
We’re sort of slow starters I guess in that regard, because once we get going though, we get going.
