They were flying literally way above their league.
They were bought by an Italian group, things didn’t end up well and then went straight downhill. No one found a way to stabilize them between 2 or 3 league which i believe would be their natural habitat
Same as Belenenses, Beira-mar, V. Setúbal, U. Leiria, Estrela da Amadora, Salgueiros, Académica, Farense… the list is sadly big… bad management leading to eventual bankruptcy. Some of them have since started over and are back in the big-ish league.
The professional side of the club collapsed because of rising debts and no investments.
A phoenix club called Olhanense 1912 was created and they have been promoted this season to the 5th tier (the top regional league)
