A ban and a huge fine for the clean up would be better.
So as long as the fly tippers care about unlicensed driving and the police can be bothered to enforce driving bans, this should all go smoothly.
On second thoughts, I think there might be a weakness in the plan.
The problem is having sufficient officers to detect and apprehend the tippers. You can have all the punishments you like, it means nothing when they’re not getting caught.
On top of that, councils have to impose costs on using the landfill and recycling, which incentivises fly tipping.
Make it easier to get rid of stuff ?
Appointments at the tip, no vans allowed, no trade waste, sorting everything into different bags is too many barriers for a lot of people so they just dump it..
Yes I’m sure our police force has been given the funds to deal with chasing fly tippers since the tories took government
Fly tipping occurs largely in rural areas, without CCTV or members of the public. How exactly are the culprits going to be given points when we don’t know who they are?
It could be solved instantly if they made it easy to dispose of waste.
I was helping someone move house recently and the cunts at the tip refused (with great relish) 90% of what we were trying to dispose of responsibly.
This was just regular household crap too. Nothing special.
Why points? The offence is fly tipping. Give them a fine and community service cleaning duties, assuming they can be caught that is.
Fuck that. Full driving ban. Tear up their licence. Crush the van and bill therm the cost of that plus the cleanup.
That’s actually not a bad idea. A lot simpler for the police to give out points for first-time offenders than to wait for multiple offences to occur, and meet the burden of proof to get them successfully convicted through the courts.
Still, as things stand the tories have zero chance of being reelected, and their other plans like National service are hideous, so they can do one.

I’m sure the ECHR will find this to be racist towards Travellers as flytipping is an important part of their culture.
Shame they didn’t come up with a plan in the last 14 years. If they get in again, expect them to do nothing and promise new ideas before the next election.
The Conservatives could promise everyone a £20k bonus and a free mountain bike if they wanted because they won’t be forming the next government so none of it will ever become reality. All this is about is generating the headlines they think will attract the attention of those voters who they think they still have a chance of retaining with the hope that it’s not as bad a loss as they are fearing. There will be no substance to whatever policies they pull out of their arse.
Are people who work in waste disposal regulated? I’ve heard that sometimes what has been fly tipped has been dumped by people who have been paid to get rid of rubbish.
Scraping the bottom of the barrel continues. Like all policies they come out with now, the first question is always “why didn’t you do this in the last 14 years?”

But what? How? It is not a driving offence. I’m all for finding them, but saying to them “oh you’ve got a point on your licence but if you attend a speed awareness course then that’s fine” is a tad… weird.
Is this from the same school of thought that wants to fine parents if their 18 year old children don’t do their year of national service, despite the fact the child is 18 so legally an adult?
As tories, they should be insta banned then automatically. As the amount of shit they’ve dumped on us in the last 15 years should auto qualify for that.
Presumably, given the amount of rubbish they’ve dumped all over the country in the last 14 years, they’ll all be given so many points they’ll never be allowed behind the wheel of a car again…

Should just fine them it will hurt them more than points, but councils should allow vans to get rid of stuff, they charge 5 pound a bag to get rid of hardcore getting a skip aint always option
