[Mari] (Question) Inter fixed the important issues (Lautaro, Barella, Inzaghi) assets are kept. But what do you hope will happen with Denzel Dumfries? Do you want to see him renew or be sold?

1. Tricky position to be in

   Do we need funding to get a CCB or another striker? If so, we could cash him in to Aston Villa or Manchester United to get there financially.

   But then we need a replacement RWB. Is cashing him in worth it? We could be just moving the problem from one position to another.

   Darmian is getting up there. Can he be the guy there for another whole year, on an increased schedule? Is Buchanan ready? Cuadrado surely isn’t staying around. Who else could we try there, Carlos Augusto? He’s already pulling a Darmian by being the guy we plug in anywhere on the left side.

   And as we all know, Dumfries is a “take the good with the bad” type of player. He looked like a stud in the first 3 months, but like garbage for much of the last 3 (his equalizer against Lazio being a welcome exception). That kind of quality adds another uncertain variable to the question.

   Will be interesting to see how we handle this

2. Wouldn’t mind selling him if we replace him with one of Bellanova (most preferable), Di Lorenzo, or Sugawara. I’d be fine with Sugawara but it’s not an option I prefer because Dutch league players flop a lot. If it’s not one of those 3, I’d prefer to renew Dumfries. (Unless it’s Frimpong or Hakimi which are impossible which is why i didn’t mention them lol)

3. All depends on the replacement, as for every one of our players. Sugawara would be perfect.

4. Some guys really want to sell Dumfries and get Bellanova back? 💀

5. Think about it this way: we have four players right now, outside of youths, who can reasonably be sold, that is Denzel, Asllani, Thuram and Bisseck.

   Thuram is very hard to replace and with our defense getting old selling Bisseck seems a bit shortsighted. That only leaves Denzel and Asllani if you want to cash on someone this summer. And even then, Asllani’s value might still go up, while Dumfries’ will only go down in the coming years.

   So yeah, I’d sell Dumfries and hope we don’t need to touch the squad beyond that.
