Civil servants ordered back to office after Covid restrictions lifted in England | Coronavirus

  1. I guess you can’t catch Covid now, so we should all be packed into offices again.

This government is the definition of idiocy, repeating the same mistakes again and again.

We’re all part of Operation Save Big Dog now. Removing restrictions is one thing, throwing caution to the wind is just bananas.

  2. The things is most of us have never stopped working, that headline sounds like we’ve been on holiday with full pay for 2 years.

  3. It is a x andal that civil servants have been paid in full while many have lost their savings to Covid. And now the civil servants don’t want to work!

  4. go on LinkedIn or something and search for ‘remote’

When your job can be done remotely without issue but your company is forcing you back to the office, the only people who are going to be staying with that company are those with no ambition, and those who aren’t good at their job and have zero prospects.

Your best employees will eventually leave for better prospects.

the government already have issues retaining good staff, I’ve already heard grumblings from government staff about the idiotic move to forcing employees back into the office full time.

  5. not a civil servant, but just wanted express my solidarity as I’m NEVER going back. stand strong. I have a feeling that today we would never be able to have something like an industrial revolution due to the influence of the “spinning wheel lobby”.

btw, I’m also never going to a pret out of sheer spite.

  6. I have my start date for a civil service job, received after this announcement and was told to be working from home initially. Definitely doesn’t seem to be an all or nothing thing.

  7. This is silly. I think it’s fine to remove the guidance – but employers should still allow their staff to WFH some of all of the time as suits them, because it’s just a better working environment now we know we can do it.

  8. If be interested to see the official figures, but judging from rush hour traffic being about 80% back to normal round these parts it would seem most people are already back to the office.
