  1. All that handwringing over her previous pay on the Scream franchise is water under the bridge now: Neve Campbell, who’s on board for another sequel, says she is “really grateful that they came back to me in a respectful way.”

While attending the return of Reefer Madness: The Musical in Los Angeles on May 30, the actress talked to People about how “those movies have been such a big part of my life and it means so much to me, and I was sad to miss the last one, to not be a part of it.”

“I was really grateful that they came back to me in a respectful way,” she continued. “I think that means a lot to women and to society. I’m grateful to be able to step in into Sidney’s shoes again and tell her story.”

She also said her character, Sidney Prescott, has “inspired a lot of people.” “I meet a lot of fans who say her strength has helped them get through tough times, and it means more than I could ever have imagined to some people,” Campbell said.

In March, Campbell revealed on her Instagram account that she will be returning for Scream 7. It will be directed by original Scream writer Kevin Williamson from a script penned by Guy Busick.

“I’m so excited to announce this news!!! Sidney Prescott is coming back!!!!” she wrote. “It’s always been such a blast and an honor to get to play Sidney in the Scream movies. My appreciation for these films and for what they have meant to me, has never waned. I’m very happy and proud to say I’ve been asked, in the most respectful way, to bring Sidney back to the screen and I couldn’t be more thrilled!!!”

Campbell, an original Scream star, did not appear in last year’s sixth movie of the franchise because of a pay dispute. Her most recent appearance in the series was 2022’s Scream, which served as a franchise reboot.

Campbell had signaled as recently as January that she wouldn’t rule out returning to the role for the right price.

  2. My theory is she wanted to cash in on Scream being a thing again with Scream 6 and what they were offering her was more in line with her actual role in the movie. Then when the new stars of the franchise get fired/leave she got her “respect”.

  3. I wouldn’t be necessarily grateful that the only reason they decided to meet her demands and pay her (what she deserved in the first place, mind you) was because they panicked after wrongly firing their new star of the franchise which in turn made other stars of the franchise drop out in solidarity. But what do I know *shrugs*.

  4. Her claiming this is a win for woman when an up and coming actress was fired unjustly and she was only asked back and paid out of default is extremely sickening.

Keep in mind they didn’t fire Jenna ortega she quit, so they were fully planning on continuing with her most likely without Neve.

So if Jenna didn’t quit Spyglass wouldn’t have even thought about Neve.

  5. Neve Campbell is the best. And totally deserves the European/Asian home/mansion she can afford from being awesome. Hooboy!

  6. Does she know they came back to her grovelling because the other actress got booted for supporting Palestinian kids or something? That an Ortega isn’t coming back too.

  7. By respectful way she means with a cartoon bag of money with a dollar sign on it.
