A few weeks ago, I went over to my family home to find a stray cat that had an injury to its face, there was a trail and puddle of blood and it ran away when I tried to catch it. Due to the amount of blood, I actually didn’t think it was going to live. The next day I got a trap from the DSPCA but ended up taking it to the vet we use for our own dog due to their opening hours.
The vet thought the cat might have got in a fight/fallen and I asked them to do what they could to help her and save the eye. I didn’t care about costs as it was horrific to see an animal in such a condition. There was so much blood. They decided to look further under an aesthetic. To everyone’s horror, they removed this pellet. Some psycho shot the cat in the eye. I contacted the Gardai who have been helpful, took the pellet and are investigating. Just posting to keep your pets safe people.

That’s an air rifle round.
Means if the Gards *do* get their hands on the fucker responsible that makes this a fire arms offence.

That poor little cat. Thank you for rescuing it OP. I’m glad the Gardaí are taking it seriously. That is an air rifle round and all firearms over 1 joule require a license so either some idiot shot this with a licensed firearm or it is illegal.

Can’t read the rest of your post: is the poor creature alright? Bless you for taking her to the vet. What fucking savages people are. I’d much prefer they’d shot a human. (Love/Hate jokes aside, that really was such an irresponsibly conceived scene, guaranteeing some poor cat would get it in real life sometime) I bloody hope Karma gets mediaeval pretty swiftly on the bastard who did this.

Is there a gun club or air rifle range nearby in your area? Those rounds are typically used in target shooting here.

I was in an airsoft shop years ago and a guy comes in with his mate and causally asks what airsoft gun is best for “shooting cats and the postman”. They didn’t serve him, but yeah, nutfucks like that are out there.
