Oh man, this is awful. MND is one of those diseases that I am absolutely desperate to see a cure for in my lifetime. Horrible, horrible disease. RIP Rob.
Wasn’t ready for this one, even though we all knew it was coming. Watching someone I grew up idolising destroyed by this horrendous disease has been heartbreaking.
Rob’s friend and team captain Kevin Sinfield is doing another 7 ultras in 7 days challenge for [MNDA](https://www.mndassociation.org/media/latest-news/mnd-association-patron-kevin-sinfield-announces-challenge-number-five) this year, hopefully funds raised will help find new treatments.
One of the best players our club – and super league – has ever seen. Hard to believe that less than a decade ago I watched him absolutely burn the Warrington fullback and to end up the way he did…. Almost a blessing in the end.
RIP
Edit: for those unfamiliar with the sport

Incredibly sad day, his family can be immensely proud of what he’s achieved. Arguably the single most important person in history to bring awareness of this terrible disease. He can rest well 🥲
Absolute legend of man and selflessly did great work despite battling the disease himself.
Honestly I know the risks of getting it are remote, but it’s one disease that absolutely shits me up the very core. We’re in 2024 and the best scientific minds have no fucking clue what causes it, how to avoid it, how to slow it down, how to treat it, fuck all. The only thing they have is a weak correlation with people who played contact sports and were in the military, and many with MND did neither. It’s absolutely frightening.
A real gut punch seeing this. He‘s one of the greats and will be sorely missed.
Such sad news. But how magnificently he lived his life.
Oh man that was quick, heartbreaking for all involved. RIP fella.
Ah shit. Such sad if inevitable news.
We were driving through Keighley this morning and the leisure centre had a sign up advertising “An evening with Kevin Sinfield” and it made me think how devastated he will be when Rob eventually dies.
I hope that he and Rob’s family are able to get the help they will need to cope with their loss.
This is so sad. Whilst everyone knew it was inevitable, that doesn’t make it any easier.
Same as with Doddie too, absolute legends cruelly taken away by a despicable disease.
They fought it as best they could, but also raised awareness and money to try and beat this vicious condition.
May he rest easy. He’ll be missed.
Gutted to see this despite the inevitably. Really feel for his family and Kevin Sinfield.
Sad day, a true legend of the game and a great person. Was lucky to meet him and was a great guy.
In no way am I discreteding MND stats, but who had it first Doddie or Rob. Both a credit to their game and even better ambassadors for the cause of MND. Not all heroes wear capes ❤️
Absolutely gutted about this, as many have said it was expected but still feels like a gut punch. Truly inspirational how Rob and all those around him have dealt with this vile disease, with special mention to Kevin Sinfield. Couldn’t ask for a better mate than that…
So sad 🙁 I once knew a young woman (she was about 25) with MND and seeing how it progressed so rapidly was tragic.
