22. So glad this very original complaint about millennials has been inherited by Gen Z. What I want to know is WHERE is the young person who got an inflated sense of self from receiving a participation trophy when they were a kid? I think I got one or two participation ribbons when I was younger, but they were just like mementos from that specific event. All kids I knew either disregarded them, or knew they were bullshit and not a substitute for actually accomplishing something.

    I was in 4th grade the first time I got one as part of a school race and was genuinely confused since I knew I hadn’t placed in the top 3.
