    But the biggest issue we face is the fact that the vast majority of people do not give a shite about global warming.

  2. If it brings anyone comfort, I work in the legal industry and ESG is really at the forefront of the agenda for most companies that do business here.

    Environmental impact is at the top of the agenda, there many EU directives regarding sustainability in force already and more are coming down the tracks. The implementation of some of those has not been perfect. For example, SFDR suffered from a lack of reliable ESG data from the outset, but that is improving. Overall, companies are concerned about getting into compliance with those legal changes, as it can impact their physical and intangible assets, their access to capital, employee engagement, their reputation, even investor willingness to engage with them.

    The real problem lies with some parts of the US, where a good few companies regard the whole ESG exercise as complete bullshit. It’s a very politicised matter over there. Texas and Florida have outright banned their public pension schemes from investing in ESG linked funds.
