High Street pharmacies in England to help people lose weight

  1. Yet another one of these stories which boil down to “This service is fundamentally failing in several significant ways, but how about a free referal to our *app*”.

    Who gives a shit? Honestly?

  2. These services don’t work not because they’re unaccessible but because they don’t tackle the problems.

I’m overweight due to health issues compounding over the last few years. I have troubles with my eating due to my ASD too. When I asked a GP about options for help as I don’t think I get enough nutrition and that is going to be making my eating habits worse he checked with the nutritionist and was told before he can refer me I needed to self refer to a local government fitness scheme. When I looked them up what they offer is group therapy sessions but also stress they don’t tell you what to eat just to understand why you over eat. I’ve still not gotten round to applying as it is entirely not what I need. Have a friend who has tried such a service and gotten fatter since too so…

Tackling obesity isn’t fixed with just a group Zoom call.
