  1. Let me guess, no consequences for the ones that got it so wrong

  2. Tough one I suppose. Innocent until proven guilty goes a long way, but when you’re actually convicted by a jury of something horrific, it’d be quite difficult to see past it especially as a woman.

  3. Who is going to give the 17 years which he spent in Jail back for something he did not do

  4. What the fuck did they convict him on if there was no DNA evidence and he didn’t match the description that the victim gave?

  5. The extra cruelty of keeping him in jail because he didn’t admit guilt. They’ll be saying just admit it and you can leave. But no, he maintained his innocence so they just piled on the years.

    > “He would spend the next 17 years – more than a decade beyond his minimum terms of six-and-a-half years – in prison as he maintained his innocence. “

  6. Funny that this sub usually has a very strong ‘lock them up and throw away the key’ vibe. Seeing many of you learn that detectives and jurors make mistakes feels like a special moment.

  7. What gets me is the fact that if he’d done it, he could just admit it and be out of jail in 6 years, but since he didn’t do it he didn’t admit it and ended up sitting there three times as long.
