What would they gain from nuking us
If russia were to use nukes it would end up as an all out nuclear war. russia would be met with devastating consequences and nukes from USA,Britan and thier allies. Both sides would be at loss
I reckon a nuke flying over German, French and British airspace might cause a bit of commotion.
And don’t forget our friend Joe O’Biden would probably not like it.
Also to note that the 50 megaton bomb was an experimental test pretty much and wouldve been entirely impractical for any military usage.

If they attacked us they’d know we would go crying to the UK for help so they’d be better off just attacking the UK directly.

Honestly we joke about it but Irelands military is severely underfunded across the board.
I know people here have mixed opinions about the military but it isn’t healthy for an independent country to entirely depend on our neighbors charity for something as basic as patrolling our own waters.
We talk about neutrality a lot but you can’t be neutral and count on others to protect your interests too, it has to work both ways.

On a side note, nukemap was a great way of seeing how far you could travel during the covid lockdown restrictions when you could only go so far from your house.
Pick the bomb with the same blast radius distance as the restriction limit, nuke your house and there you go.
