When you see me what nationality/race do you see? I’m asking because I went to my job career coach at Arffman and she mentioned to me she didn’t think I looked American. I then explained to her my background and she I asked my race and I said, I am black and mexican. She replied I thought you were Honolulu or Philippine. Now I’m not offended but I am genuinely interested.

  1. asian aaa..mexican.? anyway looking like a normal nice guy

  2. Not throwing an accusation out, but what does an american even look like? Is it the 50s? lol Id guess ethnically hispanic but even then… Youre american.

  3. Uh, she sounds very unprofessional. Was the consultant 40+ white woman?

  4. My reference points may be weak, but thanks to the magic of Television, I’d say you indeed look like a Mexican to me 🙂

  5. Id also say you drive a scooter with flipflops…?

  6. I have to agree with the Phillipine comments, but I will also say if you’re bringing legit Mexican food to this part of the world we might have to be friends 😂

  7. First you should understand that most of finns arent that nuanced in the mixed / black identity that americans usually have. Most of us are ignorant enough to think black means mostly africans, and we have no idea what “black identity” can mean to alot of mixed people, especially light skin ones.

My guess wouldve been that u definitely look like a mix of black and some filipine / other island in that region.

In short, its just an innocent ignorancy, we just arent that educated in these topics.

  8. Since you asked, my first reaction was Austronesian (Philippines to Hawaii?). But then maybe a little bit of Siberian Asian (Northeast Asia)? Ethnically ambiguous. You look very friendly in any case!

  9. How the hell does one not look American?! If you pick both continents everybody looks american xD

  10. I definitely see what she means, you look great bro, I love the killer mustache

  11. A golden retriever, a labrador or one of those big fluffy fun dogs
