  1. For those who haven’t watched, the claims of underperformance were listed as:

-Claims that the Abrams was designed to fight in the desert, not in places like Ukraine.

    -Issues with maintenance/breaking down

-Condensation on instruments in the tank

-Not having enough armor to withstand Russian attacks

-Not being able to clear woodlines

    -Dud rounds not exploding buildings

The responses from the general are as follows in the same order as listed:

-“These tanks have been basically made for a NATO environment *in* Europe.”

-“I’ll remind folks that I said it would not be the best tank to give to Ukraine because there are maintenance challenges and you have to have a highly trained crew to address some of the things (sic.)”

    -“that’s BS”

    -“that’s BS”

    -“that’s BS”

    -“that’s BS”

With the general sentiment being that a crew that’s disgruntled with their broken down tank will basically cook up every issue under the sun as to why it’s crap- when in his experience they’re either not selecting the proper weapons systems or the like. He says he’s served in these tanks and sees that they’re likely experiencing issues with maintenance, but Ukraine *did* ask for them along with other western patterned designs- they’re just encountering such teething issues in an environment outside the reach of regular maintenance facilities that Abrams typically operate out of.
