ICJ orders end to Gaza offensive: ‘Enduring sense of victimhood’ in Israel • FRANCE 24 English
it would be wrong to say that the entire uh response has been hostile there has been some moderate some considered response uh those who are pointing out in the media for instance today that uh if Israel had given more consideration about how this conflict were to end what the end game should be and if ministers on the hard right hadn’t made such strong statements about the situation in Gaza and if there hadn’t been attacks by settlers on Aid trucks going into Gaza this might not have happened but by and large it has to be said this has been a very angry reaction from the Israeli public and from the Israeli media and of course from politicians you’re ranging from Benyamin Netanyahu the Prime Minister uh calling the the case brought by South Africa against Israel false and outrageous uh to those on the hard right uh comparing it to support for Nazis uh and and those simply saying look you know we are not going to stop nothing Ben Gans one of the members of the war clab nothing will stop us uh completing our operation uh anywhere in Gaza including in Rafa uh the argument being that they haven’t finished their military operation Israel was attacked first by Hamas this is an operation not against the people of Gaza they said not against Palestinians it’s against Hamas uh an argument that is increasingly falling on deaf ears it has to be said in the International Community but in Israel uh there seems to be a sense growing sense of victimhood you know why are we being singled out in this way why for instance in 2018 did the international court of justice not cramp down on the the Myanmar government over the rindas uh why didn’t they stop try to stop a genocide there this sense of victimhood uh is all pervasive at the moment yeah and um going along with that Rob hours after the the ruling from the icj fighting did continue in Gaza Israel conducting strikes across the strip tell us more yes I mean within hours if not less than that uh Israel was bombing targets inside Central Rafa uh hit hitting roads and H and housing there uh the reports that Israeli tanks have now Advanced towards the center of Rafa not quite there yet uh the city itself is effectively divided into three areas now uh the east of the city a major combat zone the central part of the city deserted because most people have left uh and the western part of the city crowded uh W with hundreds of thousands of people who have fled the fighting in the in the Eastern parts of the city
Despite some more moderate responses, most of the Israeli public, media and politicians have reacted angrily to the World Court’s Friday decision which demanded that Israel end its offensive in Gaza, FRANCE 24’s Rob Parsons said, reporting from Jerusalem. “In Israel, there seems to be an enduring sense of victimhood, you know, why are we being singled out this way,” Parsons said.

The only occupier in history that presents itself as the victim, the only victim in the world 😅😅
HA the Audacity!😒
Robs support for hamas is touching.
Perhaps he should move to rafah.
They have milked the victimhood cow for decades. It’s dead now and the world has seen them for what they are.
Never again is victoryhood
That's fine if they don't stop. If the ICJ can't get the UNSC to intervene, the resistance will do it obo the ICJ.
This has been covered in a very good book:
"Fascism may be defined as a form of political behavior marked by obsessive preoccupation with community decline, humiliation, or victim-hood and by compensatory cults of unity, energy, and purity, in which a mass-based party of committed nationalist militants, working in uneasy but effective collaboration with traditional elites, abandons democratic liberties and pursues with redemptive violence and without ethical or legal restraints goals of internal cleansing and external expansion." Robert O. Paxton – The Anatomy of Fascism (2005).
This "objective" so called court decision was praised by Hamas terrorist leaders.
Thats all you need to about it.
If they were existed during WW2 they would be probably trying to procecute Churchill for British war crimes against nazi German.
Who will enforce the release of hostages….? What a JOKE
The bias in the news Media today is just one sided. I can’t imagine what kind of world we live today. I’m Christian and believe we all are God children and deserve to exist in equality. No one is better than the other. Sad that innocent people had to died for political complacency and favoritism. God will punish those accomplices
Israel: ashamed of nothing; offended by everything.
Big support for Israel! Nothing that this court decide will change my deep respect for this country and Jewish people.
Go IDF, save your people (Noone else will) stay strong, many people from Europe supports you!!!!
After watching the most recent appeal, in full which was brought by South Africa its painfully obvious that the Israeli Govt has deliberately & conveniently obfuscated the fundamental substance of the appeal and the merits on which it was decided.
This is an example of the textbook 'straw man fallacy'
Much of S. Africa's latest arguments were specifically focused on Rafah as the 'last remaining place' on the entire Gaza strip which is even barely capable of maintaining & enabling, protecting access to any appropriate or functional infrastructure which is vitally necessary for hosting the practical functions of such things as large scale aid delivery, reception, distribution.
Also they appeal addressed the nudges to consider that at this time only this area of Rafah is a Gazan location where any shadow of a form of health care & hospital facilities are even left intact- hospitals which are now indispensable due to the reality that these Rafah facilities still hold a fraction of some meager ability to deal with needs at capacity & scale within the whole of Gaza.
From this reporters run down of the discussion in Israel its clear that the arguments that Israeli's are making internally that are 'manufacturing consent' against this recent ICJ ruling are NOT serious arguments based in good faith principles strictly because they have nothing to do with the actual merit of the specific arguments brought by S Africa nor the arguments which were factually persuasive enough to the judges to agree….
Which is paramount to understanding the explicit reason why the same highly respected judges were so convinced that they OVERWHELMINGLY ordered this narroly targeted ceasefire IN WHICH THEY WERE CLEAR that they did wS because of the reasons+ that ive detailed above ☝️ to inform their orders in this Rafah specific ruling which halted any threat to Rafahs infrastructure via any belligerent & hostilities military incursion in the area…
… Just saying….
Sheesh!
(Deuteronomy 11:27 )
It will be a blessing, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I am instructing to you this day.
They literally have hostages still be held in Rafah though. Why aren’t they not victims?
Isreal lost all the support from world
Unbelievable, the twisting and contorting to try and justify anti semitism and blood libel. So ugly but as predictable as it is malevolent.
And how incredibly banal, but what would one expect from hamas talking points?
Gaza belongs to Palestine🇵🇸 not Israeli settlers!
You are ignoring the reality of human nature. The strongest man wins the battle. If you are wise you would talk yourself out of the conflict and not try and fight the man. That is what De Klerk and Mandela did – talk their way out of the conflict. South Africa did not opt for a civil war!
