  1. This is really serious. It was also stated that Zemans chancelor knew about this since last wednesday and chairman of Lower Chamber had a meeting with President Zeman on Thursday where he supposedly signed paper to estabilish new Lower Chamber after the elections. Now article 66 will probably come into effect.

  2. And literally nobody was surprised.

This charade his cronies have been playing for the last week was ridiculous. They must think everyone else in the country is an idiot. Well now the obvious truth is out and it’s all over. It’s very likely ~~order~~ article 66 gets triggered now. Finally.

  3. From a Swedish perspective all the things that have happen in Czechia last few years has been like a bad spy movie.

Collaborations with China and Chinese influence that ended in a public conflict between the two countries. Russian agents blowing up arms factories. The Salisbury agents that was operating in Czechia for extensive amount of time. Local and regional politicians being forced to hide from the public because of Russian agents trying to kill them. The list can be so long… and on top of all that Zeman and his close relationship with Putin. Its been a crazy ride to follow.

  4. >The speaker of the Czech Senate, Milos Vystrcil, said that a letter he received from the Prague military hospital where Zeman is being treated says the 77-year-old president is unable to work.

“Military hospital” makes it sound a bit like the military has kidnapped the president and removed him from power.

  5. [Czech Republic Constitution](https://www.constituteproject.org/constitution/Czech_Republic_2013?lang=en), Article 56, Clause 8:

    >The election of the President shall be announced by the President of the Senate ninety days prior to holding the election at the latest. **If the office of the President becomes vacant, the President of the Senate shall announce the election of the President within ten days [from the moment when the office became vacant]** and simultaneously within eighty days prior to holding such election.

TLDR: If the Czech President resigns, the Senate leader must announce a new presidential election within 10 days.
