Man City ‘launch legal action’ against Premier League over financial rules ahead of their own 115-charge hearing

    They went from saying “we didn’t do anything wrong” to basically “what we did shouldn’t even be against the rules!” 

    The arrogance displayed by this club is just on a completely different level.

City are arguing that the APT rules they supposedly haven’t broken are totally unfair and discriminatory against Gulf petrostates because they’re so incomprehensibly rich and sponsoring themselves with hugely inflated sponsorship fees should be legal. Begs the question why they’d even want to challenge the ‘unfair’ rules if they operate as successfully as they have within them, unless…

    It’s just another cut and run tactic by the City lawyers to move the process in a different direction which they hope will move funds away from the 115 process. Funnily enough, it is the exact same tactics used by Lance Armstrong’s lawyers when he was accused of rampant cheating. If the PL lose this then they are a pathetic spineless org and football in England is completely finished.

    City are a vile festering shit stain of a team and their fans defending their actions are just as bad. Bully playing victim type shit.

  7. If the court rules in City’s favour that the “fair market value” rule around sponsorships is a breach of competition law then there is no point having FFP anyway as teams can massively overpay to sponsor their club to create false revenue meaning they can spend what they want.

    City launching legal action on this basis proves they know their sponsorship values are bullshit and have been used to try to circumvent FFP rules, they’re cheats.

  12. What a disgusting ownership model. Don’t like the rules to stop you cheating? Well try to ban the rules. If this keeps up I hope the whole football league remove them until ownership change.

  14. If found guilty the rules have to be severe enough to match the energy they give. At this point I wouldn’t even send them to league 2, it’s non-league or bust.
