Ukrainian president Vadim zalinski has accused China and Russia of trying to disrupt an upcoming peace Summit on the war in Ukraine zinski said Beijing is pressuring other nations not to attend he was speaking at the shangrala dialog conference in Singapore with defense ministers from around the world present it is only the second time zalinski has traveled to Asia since Russia launched its fullscale Invasion zinsky said more than 100 countries and organizations had signed up to the peace Summit taking place in Switzerland this month and urged asia-pacific Nations to join them we are disappointed that some world leaders have not yet confirmed their participation in the peace Summit unfortunately there are also attempts to disrupt the summit we do not want to believe that this is a desire for monopolistic power in the world to deny the global community the opportunity to decide on War and Peace and to live these power in the hands of one or two let’s get more on this from DW correspondent geog Mattis who joins us now from Singapore gor zalinsky says some countries are attempting to disrupt the upcoming peace Summit what’s behind this well actually the position of China that they feel any peace conference should have equal representation ation of both parties in this war so IE Ukraine and Russia is not nothing new they have made that point uh several times even before this uh conference um on the point whether uh China has in any way um tried to convince others or forced others not to attend that conference um that is something that president selinski put in front of U the Press uh just um a few moments ago here in Shangrila in Singapore um and I talked to a Chinese delegate on the sidelines of this who denied that that is the case so that is is inconclusive whether that is really the case it’s an allegation that the president zelinsky has put forward uh the point he made is that in total 106 Nations have now agreed to join that peace conference in Switzerland we understand another significant issue discussed at this Summit was the tension between China and Taiwan can you tell us more about that yeah I would say I mean obviously you had uh the chi Chinese and the American defense minister uh here in Singapore and when it comes to the straight of Taiwan I think the classical arguments we have seen in the past have been exchanged here uh what one can see as a takeaway from this conference is basically how it started with a first in person meeting between the American and the Chinese defense ministers uh I think my impression is after those two or three days here at the security Summit is that neither sides wants to pour more oil into the fire a positive takeaway if you want is that uh talks on Military level are about to restart in the upcoming weeks and that is a positive sign coming from the summit when it comes to the Chinese us rivalry here in the region that’s DW correspondent G mates in Singapore many thanks G

  3. i now confirm that wisdom has left this world. i can't believe that the so called democratic world leaders don't know who should be the real parties in a peace talk. Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a diffrent result is called stupidity and that is exactly what the democratic leaders are, Stupidity and double standard.

  17. I think China is being hella smart here. They are not being an "instrument", they are only looking after their own interests. China managed to make the biggest country in the world completely depend on them for sustenance. Zelensky is not being politically savvy because while he is aligning with NATO, he is automatically alienating countries such as the BRICS. Plus, given Zelensky's recent history in other geopolitical affairs such as the war in Gaza, you would think that he is being a NATO tool here. Not in a thousand years are the Chinese helping you here buddy.

  28. Apparently, Zelensky does not know the constitution of his side, that the former president of Ukraine can sign any documents, but they will not have legal force.

  29. The only way there can be peace is if there is a willingness to learn from your mistakes.

    A good starting point is to essentially admit mistakes were made and then continue on from there. But at this point, I really doubt there will be any initiators.

    Furthermore. Will Zelensky be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize after this gathering?

  30. Well if I were one the 106 countries leader, I definitely will show up the summit. Besides the absence of both China and Russia, Biden has confirmed he will not show up. These countries through the summit can express their willing of "peace" , and the most important is without the "Big 3", there will be no pressure for those 106 countries to declare "their supporting sides".

  31. Going to the peace summit without one of the parties involved in the conflict is like going to the wedding without the presence of a bride or a groom.
