Manchester United have made an offer close to €60m for Leny Yoro, a figure that Lille set for this transfer. Real Madrid have already told the player and his agent that they have to wait, that they have to resist the temptation of a higher offer if they really want to join their club.

  1. Jose Felix Diaz is reporting it.. So its not a run of the mill rumor, but has some substance to it.

  2. Manchester United for the money or Real Madrid for the glory? It’s an interesting conundrum for players to deal with.

  3. I really like this strategy with these young players. If they want to come on lower wages, good. Because they would be coming to a better team with a better structure. Maybe not as much playing time and less wage than Utd. But in the long run it’s probably the better career choice. And now we have the examples to prove it with Tchouameni and Camavinga, or even Vini and Rodrygo.

If he chooses money, fine. But I wouldn’t feel comfortable giving a young, relatively unproven player big salary just because he might have potential. Plus we get players who really wants to be here

  5. I know this is all subjective and stuff, but if I was given the same choice, I’d humbly rather stay in Lille (which is a freakin’ good club to develop youngsters btw) and join Real later than to join an EPL side now where I’ll get more money but less trophies (plus, Man U isn’t the best managed club, to put it this way).

Writing this I realize that it’s been the main dilemma for years for young players out of Ligue 1: they get scouted early for EPL clubs and leave way too early for the money, only to end in mid-table teams somewhere in that cold place that is England.

  6. Let him go to Man United. If it works and he becomes the player we think he will be then he can come to Madrid. If it doesn’t work then we dodged a bullet, I guess.
