  1. I don’t know about the specific numbers he gives, but it is true.

What he doesn’t mention is that Wales has an older population, a sparser population density, rugged terrain with poor transport links, and is just generally poorer. This all contributes to give Wales specific healthcare challenges.

What he also doesn’t mention is that if you look at waiting times across the entire UK and compare it to who is in power at the time, you will see that they always rise under the Tories and fall under Labour.

I’m no fan of Labour, especially under Keith, but don’t let yourself be bamboozled by these Tory bastards.

  2. It is, but it’s not like it would improve were Farty Davies to inexplicably become First Minister

  3. I’ve noticed my local hospital get it’s services stripped and moved further away, and now they plan on stripping that one and moving it another 20 miles away, my local mp has been labour for years as this has been happening. I have to drive 24 miles to the hospital now instead of 2 miles.

  4. Healthcare spending is devolved so it’s Welsh Labour who are responsible for how the Welsh NHS gets funded.

However, how much money Wales has to spend is still controlled by Westminster.

  5. Yes way behind unfortunately and England is bad enough.

  6. Saw Nye on Saturday, amazing play and it shows how we’re pretty much in the exact same situation now. Fuck the Tories and fuck Westminster

  7. The tories control how much money wales gets overall, wales is not a flat english plain and pointing out one thing is worse than the other means nothing when the whole thing has become way worse due to austerity.
in essence, they are complaining the labour party toilet is more clogged with shit than theirs when they’re the ones with the plungers and both toilets are overflowing with shit because they haven’t bothered to fix them.

  8. It depends largely on where you are and what you need. I had pretty bad chronic fatigue from long COVID and was on waiting lists for years in the English NHS and almost a year in private. Moved back to my hometown in North Wales and got a CAT scan in less than a week and was trialing medication by the end of the month.

That said, it wasn’t peak season and it also wasn’t winter, so I can’t speak for the situation when the tourists show up for a few months and the population doubles, or when it gets cold and the pensioners start getting very sick.

  9. When you become a retirement home for the English it’s hardly surprising. But if you ever listen to LBC you’ll hear horror stories about the NHS in England so never think the grass is greener over there.

My son and I both had our appendixes out in recent years in YGG and I can’t fault the service we both received. My partner has had poor service from her GP surgery and subsequent referrals and ended up going private. The cause of the issue was identified at the first private appointment and will hopefully be solved soon.

She has been in agony in recent months and the GPs just don’t care. And the cause could have easily been spotted sooner had the NHS dosctors not solely been looking for cancer and just took a few more minutes to look at the results.

But the election campaign appears to be all about tax cuts which as we all know is another way of saying cuts to services.
