I haven’t read the article but I’m just here to boast that I am so in my partner’s good books this year. A long time ago she said to me that if I ever see Springsteen tickets I have to get them, she’s a big fan but has never managed to go. During his last tour I wasn’t able to get tickets but, and I may be wrong here, he was ill and had to postpone some dates. He’s playing in Wembley stadium, UK, in a few weeks and I’ve managed to get tickets. I reckon I could shag her best friend and I’ll still be in her good books.
I was born in…east L.A.
A colleague of mine once heard these stems from some website and said everything sounded like it was recorded in a cardboard box. The magic was in the mixing. Inspiring to amateur engineers, I guess.
I have listened to the album ever since it was released.
Recently I started to hear the album through an ironic filter and hear the lyrics as a seething assessment of US patriotism.
Now I cannot listen to one song off the album without thinking that Bruce Springsteen is just taking the piss out of blue collar America.
Especially his home state of New Jersey in ‘Born to Run’.
7 out of the 12 tracks from the album were hit singles, dang. I think it may actually be one of the albums with most hit singles ever.
He’s touring I saw him a few months ago. Worth every penny.
