Developing a UK high speed rail network is key to meeting net zero | New Civil Engineer

  1. Or maybe fix the broken wages so that people have the money to buy the shitty electric cars they want us to use.

  2. Saying it’s “key” to meeting net zero is a bit of an overstatement, no?

Sure it will cut down on a few journeys by road and rail but even if the entire country was running on zero emissions transport fuelled via zero emission energy – it would still be a negligible impact compared to what is needed to be done in both the domestic and industry sectors to achieve net zero.

Transport plays a part – but it’s a very small part of the whole. HS rail is just a tiny part of transport.
